The holiday events are now over, but that doesn’t mean the action is slowing down in Pokemon GO. The January 2022 calendar of events is full of excitement and trainers should have no issue staying busy throughout the early weeks of the year. In addition to the rotating events, there are also some powerful Raid Bosses up for grabs throughout the month.
Trainers have already been battling Heatran throughout the last week, but a new boss is scheduled to rotate in this coming weekend. Genesect (Shock Drive) is coming back to the Legendary scene once again and this time the Pokemon is coming equipped with Techno Blast. The limited time boss is available starting January 15, 2022 and Pokemon GO trainers are going to have until 10:00 a.m on Monday, January 24,, 2021 to battle, encounter, and catch the Pokemon with the exclusive move.
As emphasized during its last appearance, Genesect is an intimidating Legendary Battle Raid boss, which means that trainers will need to take some time to prepare an appropriate and strategic counter roster before heading into the big fight against the beast.
Genesect is a Steel- and Bug-type, which makes its primary weakness Fire-types. Some of the top players will be able to duo Genesect this week with the right weather and Friendship bonuses, but the average players should stick to groups of around four or more players to ensure a successful attempt that guarantees an encounter. Luckily for most players, Fire-types are quite popular and even the average player likely has a collection that contains a handful of these powerful counters…

Raiders should have a decent amount of Fire-type Pokemon powered up, so that’s a good place to start. Don’t hesitate to burn through some Stardust, Rare Candy, and TMs in order to properly prepare for the big fight.
