Pokemon GO Best Mega Slowbro Raid Counters

This month’s Pokemon GO calendar of events is full of exciting festivities to kickoff the Season of Discovery and that definitely includes a ton of interesting Battle Raid bosses. This weekend’s raiding schedule is definitely going to keep trainers busy and fans of Mega Raids will be able to use some Battle Passes to face off against Mega Slowbro.

The June Legendary and Mega Battle Raid lineups include some exciting bosses, but some players may be sick of revisiting the Regi Trio at this point. For those Pokemon GO players, the Mega Slowbro option is likely a bit more exciting and interesting. The Mega Raid will offer a tough challenge for trainers, so they’ll want to take some time to prepare a strong counter roster before jumping in.

Mega Slowbro is a particularly interesting boss thanks to its Water- and Psychic-type pairing. That gives it some interesting weaknesses including Ghost-, Dark- Grass-, Electric-, and Bug types. That means that there are a ton of great counter options and trainers will hopefully already have some of the best options lined up with the right move sets and high CP. If not, it may be time to invest some Candy, Stardust, and TMs…

Gengar (Mega)- Shadow Claw/Shadow Ball

Gyarados (Mega) – Bite/Crunch

Houndoom (Mega) – Snarl/Foul Play Dark

Darkrai – Snarl/Shadow Ball

Chandelure – Hex/Shadow Ball

Zekrom – Charge Beam/Wild Charge

Electivire – Thunder Shock/Wild Charge

Giratina (Origin) – Shadow Claw/Shadow Ball

Ampharos (Mega) – Volt Switch/Zap Cannon

Magnezone – Spark/Wild Charge

Thundurus (Therian) – Volt Switch/Thunderbolt

As always, keep in mind that trainers do not need to have the exact list of counters outlined above to succeed in this battle. As long as they team up with enough friends and focus on exploiting Mega Slowbro’s weaknesses, they should be able to successfully take down the boss and earn some of those valuable Mega Candies. Time time around, that means searching for the best Ghost-, Dark- Grass-, Electric-, and Bug types available and creating the most powerful roster available. Be sure to avoid Mega Slowbro’s strengths and don’t be afraid to use some TMs, Stardust, and Candy to get a roster up to a respectable power level before burning a Raid Pass and jumping into the fray.

In the coming weeks, we should learn more about what other events will be arriving during the rest of the Season of Discovery. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
