Although Pokemon GO’s Community Day event centered around the Dragon-Type known as Dratini has now come and gone, it doesn’t mean that Niantic doesn’t have any additional plans to give fans incentives to keep playing the popular mobile augmented reality game. As a matter of fact, in order to celebrate tomorrow’s Pokemon Day 2018 Festivities, the developer will be bringing back Party Hat Pikachu for a limited time.

Niantic will be officially be making this unique version of Pikachu available in the wild for would-be Pokemon GO trainers to catch for a short window on February 27 through February 28, and it will be imbued with knowledge of the special move “Present”. What’s more is that whenever players actually manage to catch a Party Hat Pikachu, they will be rewarded with triple the amount of Stardust for each one that is nabbed in the game.

For the uninitiated, Party Hat Pikachu made its first appearance in Pokemon GO during the Pokemon Day 2017 Festivities, but it’s far from the only version of the Electric-Type that has sported a fashionable lid in the ARG. As it so happens, multiple iterations of hat-wearing Pikachu have made various appearances in the game, with one having a witch hat for Halloween, another donning a Santa hat for Christmas, and one more wearing Ash Ketchum’s hat on several different occasions.

Tomorrow will mark the third annual Pokemon Day, and Pokemon GO’s brief revival of Party Hat Pikachu won’t be the only way that fans can celebrate the entire franchise’s 22nd anniversary, as The Pokemon Company has already introduced a Bulbasaur Snapchat filter in commemoration of the event. Following the Grass-Type’s inclusion, the likes of Charizard and Squirtle will receive their own filters in the image messaging application. Hopefully, though, there are some unannounced surprises planned for Pokemon GO fans during tomorrow’s celebration.

Pokemon GO is available now for Android and iOS.
