In celebration of the Pokemon franchise’s 25th anniversary and Pokemon GO’s 5th anniversary, the developers have pulled out all of the stops for GO Fest 2021. The second day of the event will host a raid day extravaganza, during which time every Legendary pokemon ever to feature as a raid boss will be taking up the mantle once again.
The Basics Of Pokemon GO Fest Raids
For those trainers just starting their Pokemon GO adventures, drawn in by the game’s lasting popularity, no doubt, let’s quickly go over the core mechanics of raids.
Where Are GO Fest Raids Held?
Raids are held at Gyms, their arrival precursed by a giant Egg sitting atop the Gym with a countdown to the start of the raid. Likewise, the Raid Boss will sit atop the Gym once the raid starts, with a timer set to the end of the raid.
How Do You Join A GO Fest Raid?
In order to partake in raids, trainers must acquire Raid Passes, or now, Remote Raid Passes, both of which are being given out as rewards during this Legendary Raid Day on the second day of GO Fest 2021. The Legendaries appearing as Raid Bosses during the event only appear in 5-star raids, the likes of which cannot be defeated alone, so be sure there are fellow trainers ready to take on the Raid together before expending a Raid Pass.
Can You Capture The Legendary Raid Bosses In GO Fest?
After successfully defeating a Raid Boss, each trainer who partook in the raid gets a chance to catch the featured pokemon. The extent of your team’s (Mystic, Valor, or Instinct) damage contributions will determine the number of Premier Balls you are given and thus the number of chances you’ll have to catch the pokemon.
What Legendaries Will Be Available During GO Fest, and When?
Excluding Mythical pokemon, every Legendary to previously appear in Pokemon GO raids will be featured in raids on Sunday, July 18th, day two of GO Fest 2021, from 10 am to 6 pm. Raids will be broken up into two sets of four different elemental-themed hours, similar to the habitat hours from day one of GO Fest. As with all pokemon titles, Pokemon GO’s battle mechanics are based around type advantages. Many times specific moves and pokemon provide unique advantages due to their various speed and counter statistics. Keeping that in mind, let’s go over every Legendary Raid Boss you’ll encounter on Sunday according to their elemental type, and look at some of the best moves and pokemon for taking on each one.
