When comparing anime like Naruto and Pokémon, fans may conjure several conclusive similarities regarding the personalities of each one’s heroes and villains. For instance, the teaching skill level of Naruto’s former sensei, Kakashi Hatake, can be comparable to Professor Oak’s trust in Ash during Pokémon’s earlier seasons.

On the comparison topic, many fans may find themselves highlighting or discussing dream crossovers for many shows like Pokémon and Naruto in hopes of starting new conversations with friends, family, or even strangers. One such topic that is sure to get a fun back-and-forth going is what Pokémon Naruto’s Kakashi would (and wouldn’t) want to catch, train, and send into battle on his behalf.

10 Would Want: Jolteon, An Electric Type Pokemon That Can Restore Their Health By Getting Hit With Electricity

One of Red’s best Pokémon he never uses, and one that would suit Kakashi well on the battlefield, is Jolteon. The Jolteon species are somewhat competitive Pokémon that may be difficult to train for most trainers.

Although this may be a reason against Kakashi owning one, Kakashi’s leadership and teaching skills will help him tame a Jolteon. Another aspect of Jolteon that would influence Kakashi to capture one would be Jolteon’s ability, Volt Absorb, which would allow Jolteon to consume electric attacks and gain HP.

9 Would Not Want: Munchlax, Since They’d Rather Scout For Food Than Battle

5 Pokémon Kakashi Would Want On His Team (& 5 He Wouldnt)

Like many anime characters that love food as much as Goku, Munchlax is a Pokémon that loves eating more than it should. The Pokemon doesn’t mind eating garbage from a dumpster and will often search for food rather than attack a wild Pokémon.

These habits the Munchlax species display may not suit Kakashi well in the shinobi world. Kakashi would be looking for Pokémon who’d help him in dire situations regarding fights with other ninjas. Also, having a Pokémon on his team who hunts for food to fill its own stomach may not entice Kakashi to want to capture one.

8 Would Want: Sceptile, A Grass-Type Pokemon With Formidable Offensive Powers

5 Pokémon Kakashi Would Want On His Team (& 5 He Wouldnt)

Sceptile’s a fierce grass-type Pokémon with offensive power and strategy. From Sceptile’s signature move— Leaf Blade— to its quick leaping abilities as it hops from tree to tree, it’s a Pokémon that wouldn’t back down from any rogue ninja.

The Sceptile species also appeared in some of the Pokémon anime’s best battles, like when Ash’s Sceptile fought off the mythical Pokémon Darkrai. With fights as impressive as that one, there’s no reason for Kakashi not to want one as an ally.

7 Would Not Want: Pidove, Because They’re Bird Pokemon Who Lack Intelligence

5 Pokémon Kakashi Would Want On His Team (& 5 He Wouldnt)

The Pidove species tend to follow the trend of being one of the earlier Pokémon fans catch and then abandon later for greater Pokémon of the same type. Fans can claim Pidove’s realistic animal designs may entice people to want one, but they are known for lacking intelligence and not understanding trainers’ orders.

In Kakashi’s case, he wouldn’t want to have a Pidove as an ally because it would most likely fail to meet his requirements due to the species’ low intelligent level. For instance, if Kakashi told Pidove to deliver a message to the Hidden Leaf Village, it would most likely fly off and not complete the task.

6 Would Want: Gardevoir, Because They Have Supernatural Abilities Which Kakashi Could Benefit From

5 Pokémon Kakashi Would Want On His Team (& 5 He Wouldnt)

Gardevoir is a formidable, bipedal, psychic-type Pokémon capable of creating small black holes and using incredible moves like Psychic and Shadow Ball. Gardevoir can arguably defeat strong anime characters like Tai and Agumon and form bonds with trainers which can last for ages.

Although their power may seem too deadly to have in a world like Naruto, Kakashi would find a way to harness it and utilize it to benefit his allies in combat against powerful foes like Momoshiki and others.

5 Would Not Want: Voltorb, Since They’ll Explode On Contact & Will Harm Anyone They Want

5 Pokémon Kakashi Would Want On His Team (& 5 He Wouldnt)

Despite looking like a Poké Ball and having tremendous electric capabilities, the Voltob species don’t get along well with humans— or any other creatures for that matter. Voltobrs explode upon contact because of their arrogant nature toward other living organisms.

Though Kakashi could use Voltorb’s everyday object design to lure villains into an explosive trap, he’ll understand the deadly nature of these Pokémon when it decides to explode near him instead. And an event like this could definitely occur, since Voltorb are known to explode even if the only thing in its blast radius is an ally.

4 Would Want: Gyarados, Since Kakashi Would Be Able To Tame The Violent Beast & Make It A Force For Good

5 Pokémon Kakashi Would Want On His Team (& 5 He Wouldnt)

Violent and cruel, the Gyarados species are deadly creatures to have for those who lack the training skills necessary to tame these Pokémon. Gyrados’s steel-like scales and sharpened teeth aren’t the only traits that make these creatures terrifying, as they are known for destroying lands and leaving nothing in their path.

Despite Gyarados sounding like one of the scariest monsters in anime, Kakashi has the skills necessary to handle Gyarados and use its powers for good. On that note, having a beast-like Gyarados at his disposal can grant him a physical version of the Water Style Water Dragon Jutsu technique he copied from Zabuza.

3 Would Not Want: Caterpie, Since Their Powers Are Only Effective Against Weaker Foes

5 Pokémon Kakashi Would Want On His Team (& 5 He Wouldnt)

Caterpie’s small stature and lack of offensive power may steer Kakashi away from wanting to catch one for himself. Caterpie adores eating and consuming leaves in the forest, which can cause Kakashi to lose time in his missions since he’d want to make sure Caterpie’s well fed.

Caterpie will imprison their enemies in a silky thread. Although this may sound helpful to trap bandits or thieves, this won’t help Kakashi subdue an evil-doer with strength beyond that of a mere thief. Kakashi’s better off letting the Caterpie roam around in a forest than training one to become a fighter.

2 Would Want: Dragonite, A Pokemon With A Rich History With Humans

5 Pokémon Kakashi Would Want On His Team (& 5 He Wouldnt)

A dragon type with powerful moves like Outrage, and Dragon Dance that can enhance its speed and attacking power sounds like a perfect ally for Kakashi to have. Outside of having impressive battling skills, Dragonite also have a rich history with humans involving saving them from drowning or being friendly toward them.

Allies that are kind-hearted and helpful are integral to the shinobi world, and Kakashi would acknowledge Dragonite for its bravery and sense of justice. Furthermore, Dragonite often let their trainers ride them for faster transportation, which could grant Kakashi a break period from hopping from tree to tree.

1 Would Not Want: Slowpoke Because They Love Sleeping A Little Too Much

Sleeping plays an integral role in helping people relieve themselves from stress, yet the Slowpoke species take this habit a step further and sleep for days, unlike most Pokémon. Not only that but the Slowpoke species aren’t the brightest regarding their intelligence and respond to pain minutes after being injured.

Kakashi may have his moments where he’d relax than go on a mission, but he wouldn’t like having a Pokémon that has a habit of relaxing every day. He’d more likely go for a Pokémon that loves relaxing but will commit itself to battle when the time is right.
