Pokemon GO Fest 2021 is here for players to enjoy from July 17th to July 18th. Those who bought tickets for the event are able to enjoy additional challenges and tasks in order to earn event exclusive rewards. Some of these challenges for day one are the collection challenges that are themed around the different habitat hours.

There are four different collection challenges that players can complete during Pokemon GO Fest 2021. Players will have from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Saturday, July 17th in their local times to complete these challenges before they go away for good.

The Desert Mountain Habitat Collection Challenge is based around the Pokemon that spawn during the Desert Mountain Habitat Hour. These hours are 1:00 UTC, 5:00 UTC, 9:00 UTC, 13:00 UTC, 17:00 UTC, and 21:00 UTC. Due to there only being eight hours of the day one event however, there is no location where a player can properly experience every single hour. The reason for there being so many hours is to accommodate every time zone.

There are ten specific Pokemon that need to be caught in order to complete the Desert Mountain Collection Challenge. In order to make them count, they must be caught during the event, so Pokemon caught beforehand or after will not count. The ones that are required are:

  • Growlithe
  • Geodude
  • Skorupi
  • Aron
  • Cacnea
  • Hippopotas
  • Fennekin
  • Trapinch
  • Skarmory
  • Shieldon

All of these Pokemon will be widely available in the overworld of Pokemon GO during the Desert Mountain Habitat Hours. In order to keep their spawn rates up, it is recommended for players to use an Incense and a Lure Module. These are especially helpful during this event as Lure Modules will be active for three hours upon use instead of the usual one for Pokemon GO Fest.

If players use an Incense while they have a ticket for Pokemon GO Fest 2021, there are a few other rare Pokemon that have the chance to additionally spawn for players. These Pokemon are Flareon, Tyranitar, Flygon, and Throh. None of them are required for the actual collection challenge, but their rarity makes it worth using Berries and PokeBalls on them.

Once players manage to catch all of the required Pokemon for the Desert Mountain Habitat Collection Challenge, they will be rewarded with 1,000 Stardust, an Incense, and 20 Ultra Balls. This challenge, as well as the other Pokemon GO habitat collection challenges, must be completed before 6:00 PM in players’ local times in order to earn each individual challenge’s reward. Players however can still look forward to the continued challenges in day two on Sunday.

Pokemon GO is out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
