Pokemon GO How to Evolve Swirlix Into Slurpuff

Pokemon GO’s Luminous Legends X event has brought over even more Pokemon native to the Kalos region to the mobile title. Two of these Pokemon are Swirlix and its evolution, Slurpuff.

Both Swirlix and Slurpuff are pure Fairy-type Pokemon, adding even more Fairy-type representation to Pokemon GO. Because of their typing, these two Pokemon are only weak to Steel and Poison-type moves. They additionally resist damage from Fighting, Bug, Dark, and Dragon-type moves.

In the mainline Pokemon games, Swirlix could evolve into Slurpuff by being traded while holding an item known as a Whipped Dream. This item however is not available in Pokemon GO which may make some players wonder how to evolve Swirlix.

The first thing that players need to do in order to evolve Swirlix is to set it as their buddy Pokemon. This can be done by going to the buddy menu and scrolling all the way to the bottom. By doing this, players can change our their current buddy for Swirlix.

After Swirlix is made the current buddy Pokemon, it won’t require any step amounts unlike other Pokemon that have buddy-related evolutions in Pokemon GO. Instead, players will need to feed their Pokemon 25 treats. These treats can be anything with all of them doing the same effect in regards to the evolution process.

Once 25 treats have been fed to Swirlix, players should check on the Pokemon to see if the evolve button in its menu is available. If players have done everything correctly it should be with it costing 50 Swirlix candies in total for the evolution to go through. More Swirlix candies can be obtained by walking around with Swirlix as it serves as the player’s buddy Pokemon or by catching more Swirlix from the wild.

If players catch another Swirlix, they should be aware of how the treat count only affects one Swirlix. This means that if one Swirlix has been fed treats it will not affect the evolution steps for any other Swirlix owned by the player.

The Luminous Legends X event is currently the best time to catch Swirlix for players’ parties and to collect valuable Swirlix candy for the evolution and future power-ups. This is due to Swirlix being among the increased wild Pokemon spawns for the event’s duration, which will be from May 4th at 10:00 AM to May 17th in players’ local times. Players will still be able to find it after the event, but it will not be nearly as common.

Pokemon GO is available on Android and iOS.
