Fans of Sister Wives believe that Kody Brown is trying to use the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic to hide his true motives. The patriarch has been very strict when it comes to abiding by CDC rules, so he doesn’t catch COVID-19, but some fans aren’t buying what he is selling. In terms of a few of his wives, Kody has been distant for years, and this may be his secret way out of multiple marriages.

Kody has been fighting an uphill battle against Sister Wives viewers for years. He has consistently been slammed as selfish and sneaky. Viewers have had no problem holding him accountable for the current state of his plural marriages. Kody runs his family a certain way, and TLC fans do not agree with his methods. Whether it is how he treats his wives or how he ignores his children, fans have strong opinions. Viewers believe that Kody neglects all of his family members, with the exception of his fourth wife, Robyn Brown. Now, viewers feel that Kody is trying to blame the pandemic for his bad luck.

It has to be said that Kody’s COVID-19 rules are not overly strict, as most people do abide by what the CDC recommends. However, Kody isn’t married to one wife. Instead, he has three women that he needs to consider, which makes his list of rules a bit overwhelming, especially when 18 children are involved. Kody had asked his wives Meri Brown, Janelle Brown, and Robyn to self-isolate and practice social distancing. He also revealed that he didn’t want anyone to travel and socialize with others outside the family bubble. Among the wives and his children, there has been a small mutiny, with only Meri and Robyn listening to his words. Some fans are starting to think that Kody is using pandemic rules to his advantage, as following those rules allows him to spend more time with his favorite, Robyn.

Robyn and Kody’s son Solomon Brown has a lung disorder, so it makes sense that they would want to keep him safe. However, Kody has taken shielding to a whole new level, as he has conveniently started to ignore his other duties to his other three wives. Kody flat out refused to travel to New Jersey to support Ysabel Brown during her spinal surgery, saying it was too dangerous to fly. The other three wives are cognizant of the fact that they have been put aside, but have now started to live their lives on their own terms. Instead of obeying Kody, they have just gone and done what they wanted to do, leaving Kody to look like a dictator when all he is doing is trying to keep the Brown clan safe.

It is apparent that the wives’ worlds don’t center around Kody. Robyn has consistently doted on her older spouse, and Kody has responded with love and affection. He seems more than fed up with his plural living lifestyle, and the COVID-19 pandemic might be his escape plan. Only time will tell if Kody is indeed worried about the pandemic, or using it to bide his time.
