The coming clash between Pokemon GO trainers and Team GO Rocket is just around the corner. As Professor Willow continues his Rocket Radar research, it seems like a new Special Research storyline is nearly ready to kick and see players throw down against the Team GO Rocket’s nefarious leaders.
Although the Looming in the Shadows Special Research hasn’t been officially released yet, a lot of datamining has managed to reveal many details about the upcoming Pokemon GO event. Obviously Team R0cket, corrupted Pokestops, and Shadow Pokemon will all play a key role throughout the storyline as players attempt to help Professor Willow construct a Rocket Radar that will assist in locating the bad guys’ HQ.
Although the live game has just released the Colossal Discovery Special Research, dataminers have already moved ahead and unearthed a list of tasks that are going to be associated with the Looming in the Shadows storyline, along with some Professor Willow text. Players who aren’t worried about spoilers can read ahead now to see what is coming when the new Special Research is officially available…

Once you have enough pieces, you should be able to assemble something similar to the device I’ve modified in my lab. It might be best to prepare yourself for whatever might come, %PLAYERNAME%.”
“Interesting. It appears there’s more to Team GO Rocket than previously thought. Their ingenuity has got me thinking there might be another use for these Mysterious Components. We shouldn’t underestimate Team GO Rocket.

That’s everything we know so far, but more details and dates are likely going to be revealed in the very near future. When the new storyline does arrive, it sounds like it should be exciting enough to give players a reason to take a break from catching the best Unova region Pokemon in the game for a little while.
