As of September 21, 2021, Pokemon GO Players can access a new Special Research quest, ‘Finding Your Voice.’ This quest, once completed, will allow players to catch the mythical Pokemon, Meloetta. Or, should players have already acquired this Pokemon through GO Fest 2021, they will then be granted 20 Meloetta candies instead.
If this Research hasn’t shown up in the quest section, players are encouraged to either reach the prerequisite level or complete another Special Research to free up space. Of course, this quest, like many other Special Research quests, is tiered. There are six parts, in total, and here is a small guide to those tiers.
Step One
Within these six parts, there are three subtasks to complete for each one. Outlined below are the subtasks, their individual rewards, and overall step completion reward.
These tasks are relatively easy to complete, though catching the 30 Normal-type Pokemon may be somewhat tedious. It comes down to the luck of encounters, be they random or through incense.
Step Two
Every step has relatively similar subtasks, each varying in difficulty, length, and more.
The hardest of these tasks may be collecting five candies from a buddy, depending on which Pokemon said buddy is. 1km buddies would be the fastest way, and fortunately, there is a good selection to choose from.
Step Three
This step may be slightly harder to complete, namely regarding the raids and Gym battles. Depending on a player’s location, it may take some patience to complete these tasks.
Step Four
This is the step where the mythical Meloetta is actually encountered. But to complete the whole mission, there are two more steps to go. As a small shortcut, completing the 20,000 Stardust and three Pokestops, and gaining their encounters, will work towards the 30 different Pokemon species subtask.
Step Five
The hardest task to complete, of these three, is making a new friend. While Pokemon GO still has plenty of players, it may be hard to gain another pal outside of existing friend groups. If trainers do have difficulty finding a new friend, there’s still a host of forums and social media platforms where they can find and exchange friend codes.
Step Six
This step is the easiest to complete given the immediate accessibility of the subtasks.
This is the final step for the Special Research. After completion, there will be the usual small cutscene with Professor Willow. And this will hopefully free up the Special Research queue for another new quest. Hopefully, just in time for Halloween, too. Happy Meloetta hunting!
