Some Pokémon GO fans have expressed disappointment at the reward for the 16-part Misunderstood Mischief Special Research. Certain events within the mobile augmented reality game allow players to earn special rewards, typically in the form of rare and powerful Pokémon. Pokémon GO’s Halloween 2021 event was quite extensive, with the spooky celebration adding a number of new Pokémon and special challenges for players to conquer.

Pokémon GO’s Halloween event came in two parts this year, allowing the tricks and treats to last for a full two weeks. The first part of the celebration, Creepy Companions, added Galarian Slowpoke as well as raids against dark creatures such as Altered Forme Giratina. The second phase of the Halloween event, Ghoulish Pals, introduced four brand-new Pokémon including the pumpkin-like Pumpkaboo and the ghostly Phantump. The second part of the event also brought its own new raids, such as one against Darkrai. Throughout the entire holiday celebration, Pokémon GO’s Halloween Mischief event also ran, which included a special Battle League Cup and Special Research opportunities.

After the conclusion of October’s Misunderstood Mischief quest, Pokémon GO fans like Redditor HeyCarm have criticized the quest’s reward. Misunderstood Mischief was a 16-part quest which ran as part of the mobile title’s two-part Halloween celebration. However, after completing the lengthy series of tasks, HeyCarm was apparently upset to learn that their reward was simply a two-star Dusknoir. Reddit commenters agreed with the criticism, particularly because Dusknoir’s devolved form Duskull was the subject of a Field Research Task during Halloween Mischief as well. The Ghost-type Dusknoir is not considered a particularly strong Pokémon in general, with a low health pool and a lack of outstanding attacks to choose from, making the creature a disappointing reward for such a massive line of tasks.

While many fans are let down by the Misunderstood Mischief quest’s lackluster loot, there are always more Pokémon GO events waiting on the horizon. Currently the game is nearing the end of a Pokémon GO Festival of Lights event, which commemorates the Diwali festival celebrated in various parts of the world. The ongoing event saw the arrival of Dedenne, an adorable Electric and Fairy-type Pokémon, into the popular alternate reality experience. The Festival of Lights event will run until November 14, and until then players can enjoy unique Field Research Tasks, raids, new cosmetic items, and in-game confetti.

Pokémon GO makes frequent use of in-game events, which ensure that players always have something new to accomplish when they venture out to catch monsters. However, this also means that event rewards can sometimes come across as disappointing for those who earn them. A two-star Dusknoir certainly seems lackluster as a reward, particularly for a 16-part quest that could take players weeks to complete.
