Pokémon GO continues its 5th-anniversary content with upcoming Halloween events, including a crossover with Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle.

The Halloween season is just around the corner in Pokémon GO and will include new and returning events for players to participate in. October will be a busy month in Pokémon GO, with several events overlapping. Players will be able to participate in Raid Battles, purchase PokéCoin bundles, and catch Pokémon in Halloween costumes. There will also be a crossover event for Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle, set to release globally. Because of this, Pokémon GO fans will want to log in daily to keep track of different gameplay options.
Despite recent criticism about Pokémon GO’s gameplay, Niantic has continued to release events for players to participate in. Pokémon GO faced backlash through the end of summer and into early September for changes to Pokéstop distances, as well as frustrations with August’s Community Day event. The distance required to spin Pokéstops, which had been increased in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, was reverted, but Niantic listened to community feedback and reinstated the earlier change, meaning that players looking forward to more walks in the cooler fall weather will be able to take the best advantage of Pokémon GO at Halloween.
For those who have been following “The Season Of Mischief” Pokémon GO event through September, the event featuring the Mythical Pokémon Hoopa will continue through October and into November. Currently, there hasn’t been an announcement on what players will be able to expect for the next portion of the event, but with “Fashion Week” coming to a close on September 28, there will likely be more news about Hoopa’s adventures soon. However, for those who haven’t finished their Timed Research and purchased the limited-time items from the Pokémon GO store, they may want to finish both before the deadline on Wednesday, September 29.
October Pokémon GO Breakthrough Encounters And Bundles
October will include Pokémon GO Research Breakthrough encounters for the Ghost-type Pokémon Yamask. These Breakthrough encounters will be available From Friday, October 1, 2021, to Monday, November 1, 2021. This is a good opportunity for those who may want to obtain Yamask’s powerful Ghost-type evolution Cofagrigus. Players will also be able to purchase special PokéCoin bundles each Monday in October for a single PokéCoin in the Pokémon GO store. The bundles will contain one Remote Raid Pass, as well as a handful of other items that have not been announced.
Pokémon GO Featured Pokémon Raids For October
According to Pokémon Go Live, there will be numerous Pokémon appearing in five-star raids throughout the month of October. This will include Legendary and Mythical Pokémon like Genesect, Darkrai, and Giratina as well as Mega Evolutions for Absol and Gengar. Every Wednesday will also include a Raid Hour featuring specific Mythical Pokémon from 6 PM to 7 PM local time. Below are the times, dates, and forms that will be appearing in Pokémon Go Raids.
- Darkrai – Will know Sludge Bomb, appearing in five-star raids from Friday, October 22, 2021, at 10 AM local time to Friday, November 5, 2021, at 10 AM local time. This will include a chance for Shiny encounters. Darkrai’s Raid Hour will be Wednesday, October 27, 2021.
- Altered Form Giratina – Will be appearing in five-star raids from Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at 10 AM local time to Friday, October 22, 2021, at 10 AM local time. This will include a chance for Shiny encounters. Altered Form Giratina’s Raid Hours will be Wednesday, October 13, 2021, and Wednesday, October 20, 2021.
- Mythical Pokémon Genesect – Holding Douse Drive, will be appearing in five-star raids from Friday, October 1, 2021, at 10 AM local time to Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at 10 AM local time. Genesect will not be available as a Shiny. Genesect’s Raid Hour will be Wednesday, October 6, 2021.
- Mega Gengar – Will be available via Mega Raids from Friday, October 1, 2021, at 10 AM local time to Friday, October 22, 2021, at 10 AM local time. It will not be featured in a Raid Hour.
- Mega Absol – Will be available via Mega Raids from Friday, October 22, 2021, at 10 AM local time to Friday, November 5, 2021, at 10 AM local time. It will not be featured in a Raid Hour.
October will also include Pokémon GO Spotlight Hours and an October Pokémon GO Community Day. Spotlight Hours will be occurring every Tuesday through the month from 6 PM to 7 PM local time and will feature four spooky Pokémon to go with the Halloween theme, as well as a special bonus.
- Drifloon – Will be available Tuesday, October 5, 2021. Players can earn 2x the XP for evolving Pokémon during this hour.
- Gastly – Will be available Tuesday, October 12, 2021. Players can earn 2x the Stardust for catching Pokémon during this hour.
- Gothita – Will be available Tuesday, October 19, 2021. Players can earn 2x the XP for catching Pokémon during this hour.
- Murkrow – Will be available Tuesday, October 26, 2021. Players can earn 2x the XP for evolving Pokémon during this hour.
According to Pokémon Go Live, Pokémon GO’s October Community Day event will be Saturday, October 9, 2021, from 11 AM local time to 5 PM local time and will feature the Pokémon Duskull. It will appear more often in the wild while players are exploring, and evolving a Duskull during the event or up to two hours after the event ends will result in a Dusknoir with the Charged Attack Shadow Ball. Players can also purchase a Special Research story specific to the Community Day event for 1 USD, but the Special Research will not include a medal for completion.
Pokémon GO Will Celebrate The Release Of The Movie Secrets Of The Jungle
Pokémon GO will also be celebrating the worldwide release of Pokémon The Movie: Secrets of the Jungle for Netflix on October 8 with a special tie-in event. The Mythical Pokémon Zarude will come to Pokémon GO and be available to catch via a Special Research that will only be offered the day of the event. Team Rocket members Jessie and James will also be appearing in Pokémon GO to celebrate the movie’s release. Additionally, Niantic will celebrate its birthday with a special event on October 6 and will be giving away a free box in celebration for those who long in. Pokémon GO will wrap October with the returning Halloween event from October 15 to October 31, with costumed Pokémon appearing in the wild to be caught, offering a new batch of spooky companions to finish out the month alongside.
