As expected, June has been a very busy month for Pokemon GO trainers. The calendar of events is fairly jam-packed and players have been racing from one activity to the next. It won’t be long before a serious Team GO Rocket threat arrives to keep things busy in the second half of the month and it sounds like there’s going to be a very exciting shadow Legendary Pokemon causing trouble at the top of the Rocket ranks.
This month’s Team GO Rocket Special Research, titled A Seven-Colored Shadow, is going to feature Shadow Ho-Oh. That likely means that Shadow Ho-Oh will be the final Pokemon in Giovanni’s lineup when players challenge the GO Rocket leader later this month. Ho-Oh is a pretty powerful Pokemon, so this presents an exciting challenge and opportunity for Pokemon GO players.
At this point, most of the details about the upcoming event still remain a mystery. That said, an early tease did reveal the date and some vague hints about what is to come when A Seven-Colored Shadow kicks off in the mobile AR experience later this month…

You can complete the latest Team GO Rocket Special Research, A Seven-Colored Shadow, to earn a Super Rocket Radar. This will help you track down the Team GO Rocket Boss and save Shadow Ho-Oh!
In order to prepare for the event, trainers should take a look at their collection of Pokemon and start forming a counter list to use against Shadow Ho-Oh now. More details about Giovanni’s lineup and what else will be required to complete the Special Research will likely be revealed in the coming week as trainers get their hands on the content and start tearing through it all.
As always, keep in mind that Shadow Pokemon are particularly powerful and players may need to burn through some Candy, Stardust, or TMs in order to optimize a roster that will be powerful enough to stand up against the Team GO Rocket leader and his lineup of fighters. Using the game’s most valuable resources is always a tough decision, but the rewards for this particular encounter are likely going to be enticing enough to make it worth the effort.
