It’s been a little over a week since Pokemon GO’s villains disappeared and the lack of Team GO Rocket has definitely been noticeable. The enemy encounters have become a key piece of the PoGO gameplay loop and the inability to challenge Grunts at Pokestops that they have taken over or by finding one of their hot air balloons is definitely a bit of a hiccup for the game’s hardcore fans.

Team GO Rocket encounters are usually most important when a particular event requires Pokemon GO trainers to challenge grunts or catch Shadow Pokemon, but since the level cap has increased in the game, there is even more motivation to throw down against Team GO Rocket. Many of the tasks required to level up above level 44 require some amount of Team GO Rocket interactions, so endgame players are feeling a bit of a limitation now that Team Go Rocket has been gone for more than a week.

Niantic has definitely acknowledged the absence of the game’s enemy faction and explained that the encounters have been temporarily disabled due to errors that they were causing in the game. This first announcement arrived earlier this month on April 9.

Now that some time has passed since that initial announcement, fans have been eagerly awaiting an official update or a confirmation that things are returning to normal. Over the weekend, one of the game’s most prominent players reached out to Niantic on Twitter in an attempt to get an update.

Niantic Support did respond to the message, but unfortunately there aren’t any new details to be discovered in the response. The response thanked players for their patience and reiterated that they should stay tune for further updates, but that there is no new information to share right now.

It’s unfortunate to see the TGR encounters stay offline for multiple weeks and hopefully things will be back to normal soon. The situation isn’t great for endgame players, but things could be worse. Just last month, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite had to delay all of its events by two full weeks while the development team worked on some bug fixes. Luckily this PoGO issue is only impacting the encounters and the rest of the game’s features and events seem to be still running smoothly.

Over the next few weeks or so players should begin to learn a lot more about what other events are on the way throughout the final weeks of the the Season of Legends. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!

Pokemon GO is available on Android and iOS.
