Shiny Gible arriving in Pokémon GO without a community day might be bad news, but don’t let that distract you from the fact they’re now out there to be found.
Gible are incredibly hard to find in Pokémon GO, and even harder to find are shiny versions of the creature. It’s so rare that it was assumed shiny Gible had not yet been released by Niantic. However, there have been confirmed reports of trainers finding and catching shiny Gible recently. While this might sound like good news but for many trainers, it’s quite the opposite.
Shiny Gible arriving unannounced means the Pokémon will probably not get its own community day. For a Pokémon as rare as Gible, a community day is the only real chance trainers would have had to catch it en masse. Since Gible evolves into Gabite, and then Garchomp, without a Gible community day, the chances of ever getting one of those evolved forms are slim-to-none.
Just because Gible is hard to come by, doesn’t mean trainers should give up. It only seems fair that some Pokémon are harder to find than others. So, what is the best way to try and find a shiny Gible? Well, the spawn rate of regular Gible in the wild is very low, so wandering around hoping you stumble across a shiny one will likely leave you angry, broken-hearted, or both.
The best chance trainers have of landing a Gible, shiny or otherwise, is by trying to hatch them from 10km eggs. Yes, the chance of hatching a Gible is low, but not as low as happening upon one as you walk around. However, 10km eggs are also hard to come by. The only way to guarantee you get one is by walking 50km in a week. A 10km egg is just one of the great rewards you get for putting in the footwork, and it might well have a Gible inside.
As for that footwork, there has been no better time to get out there and do some walking. Yes, it might be cold out this time of year, but Pokémon GO is holding an event over the New Year that encourages trainers to get out of the house. From December 30, 2019, to January 1, 2020, eggs placed into incubators during that time will hatch in half the walking distance. As great as that sounds, we would like to remind readers at this point that Pokémon GO’s hatch rates aren’t great, and we do not endorse paying extra to load up on incubators in the hope of landing that elusive shiny Gible.
