Pokémon Isle Of Armor Where To Find Apricorns & What To Use Them For

Most Pokémon games are the same at their core, but what always keeps them from feeling repetitive is the little significant differences in activities in every region. This is why the developers likely try to space them out from game to game; because wouldn’t it have felt a little overkill if Sword and Shield had mega evolutions and z-moves in addition to Dynamaxing? It’s definitely why you probably won’t see the phenomenon in the next generation, or maybe even the one after that; this is solely based on the fact that the Isle of Armor expansion brought back something players have not seen since the days of Johto. The said item? Fruit, specifically Apricorns, which are tree produce used to make Poké Balls. They’re a useful ingredient for the Cram-O-Matic, but first, let’s look at some history regarding this natural resource.

The Johto region, setting of the Pokémon Gold and Silver and Heart Gold and Soul Silver games, was home to a master crafter by the name of Kurt. Kurt was a particularly ornery older man who wouldn’t make balls for you until you helped him take down Team Rocket’s Slowpoke Well. After that, the player would go and collect Apricorns and then hand them to Kurt, who would manually make them into special Poké Balls. Fortunately, the Cram-O-Matic can now do in seconds what it would usually take Kurt a while to finish.

There are a number of different color Apricorns, all of which make different balls for different methods of catching Pokémon. Some of these are not available for purchase or acquisition anywhere and can only be made with Apricorns. The fruits are on specific trees in the expansion area and just like with berries, all you have to do is shake them to make the Apricorns fall off. Typically they will drop along with berries; as always, watch out for grumpy Pokémon who drop down! Below is a list of every one organized by color and by which trees you can find them on. Included is also which fruit makes what kind of ball.

Yellow Apricorns

Locations: Tree next to a big rock going towards the beach from the Dojo.

These make Moon Balls and Quick Balls. A Moon Ball will work the best on Pokémon who evolve with a Moon Stone, such as that of Clefairy. Quick Balls have a high success rate pertaining they are used at the beginning of an encounter.

Blue Apricorns

Locations: Same tree adjacent to the big rock on the way to the shore.

Black Apricorns

Locations: Tree surrounded by grass against a stone formation that can be spotted when you exit the Dojo.

These make Dusk Balls, Heavy Balls, and Luxury Balls. Dusk balls have a higher success rate if used to catch a Pokémon at night or in a cave while Heavy Balls work best against larger species like that of Snorlax. Pokémon captured with Luxury Balls become friendlier with the trainer faster.

Pink Apricorns

Locations: Tree surrounded by grass all the way at the end of the beach. Leave the train station and travel right until you get to the shore’s end and you’ll see it. They can also be found in the tree right next to the lake in Soothing Wetlands, which can be seen if approaching from towards the Fields of Honor.

Tree Locations With All Varieties

These trees will drop random Apricorns each time they respawn. They can all be found specifically on berry trees in the Forest of Focus.

How To Make Them Into Balls

The Cram-O-Matic takes Apricorns from being fruit into useful items. All you have to do to get the special balls is get four of the Apricorn color that makes that specific ball and put it into the machine. For example, if you want a Dusk Ball, you would put in four black Apricorns or if you desired a Dive Ball, you would put four blue ones into the machine, and so on. You can also use various combinations of Apricorns to make other balls like that of Ultra Balls, Poké Balls, and Great Balls. While not as rare as the ones exclusive to Apricorn crafting, they are still very useful to always have on hand. You can find most of the combinations for those in the big guide being crafted by Redditors.

While they may seem a little time consuming to collect, Apricorns are worth seeking out for their value in making Poké Balls that will make your catching much easier. Be sure to check out TheGamer’s own Cram-O-Matic guide for recipes to help you in your trainer quests!
