Players that want to get their hands on a Shiny Ponyta must first fulfill two prerequisites. The first of those prerequisites is completing “The Frenzy of the Lord of the Woods,” the seventh mission in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, and fans that have not yet reached that point in the game should spend some time working on the main story. Additionally, players must catch a non-shiny Ponyta, and that Pokemon can be found in the Horseshoe Plains in the Obsidian Fieldlands.
After meeting both of these requirements, Pokemon Legends: Arceus fans should head over to the Galaxy Hall in Jubilife City and check the request board. In particular, players are looking for the “A Peculiar Ponyta” request, which begins by sending fans to speak with Yota on the bridge in western Jubilife City. This NPC will instruct players to go out and catch a strange Ponyta, and a quest waypoint, which marks a location in the Horseshoe Plains, leads directly to the Pokemon of interest.
Upon arriving at this location, players will discover that the Ponyta that they have been pursuing is actually a Shiny, and they must now catch it. This can be done either by throwing Pokeballs at the Pokemon straightaway or by engaging it in battle and catching it from there.
