Pokemon Sword and Shield Adding Gigantamax Toxtricity to Max Raid Battles

A new Gigantamax Pokemon has been discovered in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. Toxtricity, the Punk Pokemon added in Pokemon Sword and Shield, is receiving a gigantic evolution for players to pursue and catch. Game Freak is bringing Gigantamax Toxtricity to Pokemon Sword and Shield’s Max Raid Battles starting tomorrow, February 6. Players will have to act fast, however, as Gigantamax Toxtricity will only be available for a limited time.
Toxtricity fans might be questioning just how a Gigantamax form of the Pokemon will work. After all, Toxtricity has two different forms. Depending on its nature, Toxel can evolve into either Amped Form Toxtricity or Low Key Form Toxtricity. These forms will be included in Toxtricity’s Gigantamax evolution, too. Pokemon Sword users will have access to Amped Form Gigantamax Toxtricity and Pokemon Shield players will have access to Low Key Form Gigantamax Toxtricity. Players can have a chance at both by joining other players’ Max Raid Battles.
The Pokemon Company and Game Freak have provided some early information about Toxtricity so that players can decide whether they want to look for the Pokemon. It remains an Electric/Poison Pokemon and will come with the abilities Punk Rock, and Plus or Minus. Its Gigantamax Electric-type abilities will all become G-Max Stun Shock. This ability not only does massive Electric-type damage, but can also poison or paralyze all oof Toxtricity’s opponents.
Toxtricity will be available as a Gigantamax Max Raid Battle for just a limited time, much like previous Gigantamax offerings. Players will be able to update their Wild Area news via the Mystery Gift menu tomorrow, February 6, at 4:00 pm PT to start encountering Toxtricity via Max Raid Battles. Toxtricity will then remain available via Max Raid Battles through March 8 at 5:00 pm PT. That’s just one month for Pokemon Sword and Shield players to earn their Toxtricity.
Toxtricity is just the latest Wild Area event coming to Pokemon Sword and Shield. It will be replacing another event that is ending today, February 6. This past week Coalossal, Lapras, Flapple, Appletun, and Milcery have had an increased chance of spawning as Max Raid Battles between Pokemon Sword and Shield. That means that today is the last chance to capture a Milcery, which will evolve into a Gigantamaxing Alcremie. After that, Toxtricity takes the spotlight.
Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield are available now exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
