While Pokemon GO players can finally try out online battles with the game’s GO Battle League, Pokemon Sword and Shield have a new Max Raid Battle event going on throughout the month, giving players a chance to capture a new Gigantamax Pokemon – Toxtricity.

Toxtricity was one of the many new Pokemon introduced in Sword and Shield, being a dual Electric and Poison type. In its Gigantamax form, any Electric type moves it knows will turn into G-Max Stun Shock, which is unique in that it can either paralyze or poison all opponents.

For those who may be new to Sword and Shield and don’t know how to access the Max Raid Battles, here’s a quick primer. First, connect the Switch console to the Internet to receive the latest Wild Area News. Afterwards, head to the Wild Area itself and search for any pillars of light.

These pillars indicate where Pokemon Dens can be found, and interacting with one can start a Max Raid Battle, where four players must work together to take down either a Dynamax or Gigantamax Pokemon. Unfortunately, not every Den is guaranteed to be home to a Gigantamax Toxtricity, so players will need to scour every Den they can find.

Also, since Toxtricity has two different forms, – Amped Form and Low-Key Form – this means there are two different Gigantamax Toxtricitys to catch for those that want a complete Pokedex. The Amped Form can only be encountered in Sword, whereas the Low-Key is exclusive to Shield.

Fortunately, there is a way for players to catch both forms without needing to buy a second copy, and it’s quite simple. Sword players just have to join a Max Raid Battle that’s being hosted by a Shield player, and Shield players must do the opposite. The event is still in its early days, so players have time to roam the Wild Area in search of it, but only until March 8th.

In the meantime, a number of fans are still fawning over the not-Pokemon MMO Temtem, which while still in early access and rough round the edges has drawn quite the crowd.

Pokemon Sword and Shield are available exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
