Devolver Digital’s Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, is a massively multiplayer online party game best described as a free-for-all Mario Party meets Wipeout. The game is currently offering Gordan Freeman’s Headcrab as a cosmetic bonus for preordering the game.
The game’s expected release date is August 4, but players who can’t wait to get their hands (or heads) on the cosmetic can preorder Fall Guys on Steam for $19.99. The game is also available on the PlayStation 4 as a console exclusive; however, the price is not yet listed on its PlayStation 4 store page, and thus far the deal only appears to be for Steam preorders.
Fall Guys pits up to 60 players against each other in rounds of increasingly ridiculous obstacle courses. Dodge, shove, and outrun your competitors to advance to the next stage and reign as the last Fall Guy standing. And if advancing means tackling an opponent in the way of a giant Indiana Jones boulder, well—all’s fair in love and battle royales, right?
One of the game’s main appeal points is its cosmetics; there are dozens of outfits to put your Fall Guy in, so even if you’re failing to finish obstacle courses, at least you’ll be doing them in style. You can be a chicken, a pigeon, a unicorn—the list goes on and on.
The preorder Gordan Freeman costume puts your Fall Guy in Gordan’s HEV suit and comes with a Headcrab hat that’s almost unrecognizable as the Half-Life series’ iconic monsters. Players can also preorder the collector’s edition of the game, which will also presumably include the Gordan Freeman cosmetic. The collector’s edition includes an exclusive emote and several additional cosmetics, as well as 10,000 Kudos. Kudos are Fall Guys’ in-game currency, which can be used to purchase costumes, colors, and patterns for your Fall Guy.
While Fall Guys is only a month away from release, Devolver Digital still seems to be accepting players for beta testing. However, attempting to apply returns the option to indicate other Devolver Digital games players are interested in, so it’s likely that the Fall Guys’ beta testing application is a general one that also applies to the company’s other games.
