In the name of the moon, I’ll sing with you! The live action musical based on the 1994 Sailor Moon movie has ended its run in Japan and is now available for pre-order.
Kaguya-hime no Koibito or The Lover of Princess Kaguya had a run in Toyko at the The Galaxy Theater from Friday, September 3 until today, Sunday, September 12, 2021. The musical is based on the manga and Sailor Moon S: The Movie, which tells the love story of Luna – devoted cat advisor to Sailor Moon – and Kakeru Ohzora – an astronomer who saved her.
The cast includes the Sailor Moon and the Sailor Scouts, Tuxedo Mask, Princess Snow Kaguya, Chibi Moon, Luna in cat and human form, Kakeu Ohzora, Himeko Nayotake and snow dancers.
The show was originally supposed to begin in the summer fo 2020, but was delayed due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.
Although the show’s run will be over today, however, fans can pre-order the musical on DVD or Blu-Ray. The DVD is selling for ¥8,500 and the Blu-ray is ¥9,500 yen and will be released on Wednesday, January 19, 2022.
Sailor Moon continues to influence the gaming world, which could be seen in some of the poses in the photo mode of Cyberpunk 2077. Sailor Moon has also snuck into the world of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, as fans recently made an entire set of custom designs themed after the Sailor Senshi.
In other music and gaming news, Life is Strange – the episodic graphic adventure video game – is still going to be turned into a TV series and singer Shawn Mendes was recently added on to oversee the music. French singer Louane recently teamed up with Pokemon to celebrate their 25th anniversary with a brand-new song – Game Girl. And Final Fantasy fans can get their audible fix now that the Final Fantasy 14 soundtrack is available on Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify, and more.
