Prepare For Trouble Make It Double Jessie & James Have Arrived In Pokémon GO

Pokémon’s most iconic villains, Team Rocket’s Jessie and James have arrived in Pokémon GO and players can do battle with the baddies.

Despite the fact different developers work on different Pokémon games and branches of the franchise, there is plenty of crossover. Take Pokémon GO and Sword and Shield, for instance. Even though the former is still in the process of rolling out Gen V Pokémon, and hasn’t even completely finished with Gen III, some of Sword and Shield’s Galarian Pokémon have already made an appearance.

The latest branch Niantic has picked from for Pokémon GO is Pokémon’s anime. For as long as there has been a Pokémon TV show, Team Rocket members Jessie and James have pestered the show’s characters. Team GO Rocket has been in Pokémon GO for more than a year, but up until now, aside from Giovanni, the members players could battle were faceless grunts.

Until now, and honestly, players should have seen this coming, and not only because data miners found clues in the game’s code. Team Rocket’s Jessie and James have arrived in Pokémon GO. The reason players should have seen this coming is due to the fact hot air balloons have been invading the game all week long, and that’s the villainous duo’s chosen mode of transport in the TV show.

Jessie and James have arrived via Meowth balloon. Should trainers spot the balloon in-game, they will be able to click on it and battle the pair. As was the case during the original TV series, Jessie and James will have Ekans and Koffing at their disposal, but shadow versions. If players can beat the two of them, they might even have a chance to catch shiny variants of the two Pokémon.

Jessie, James, and the rest of Team GO Rocket are also the focus of the timed research that starts this week. Some of the challenges will require trainers to seek out and defeat grunts in order to progress. Niantic has already revealed Jessie and James won’t be around for long, but we hope their stay extends beyond the end of the current timed research.
