Pretty Little Liars came to a close in 2017 after seven seasons. It answered a lot of questions, like the identity of Uber A, and gave fans closure for a lot of things that they had been wondering about through the course of the seven seasons that aired.

Although a lot of the questions that fans had throughout the series were answered during the final episodes of Pretty Little Liars and many fans feel like they show had a fitting ending and felt good about saying goodbye to their favorite characters, there are also a lot of storylines that came up throughout the series that definitely could have been explored more. Not storylines that were forgotten or plot holes that were never answered, but things that the show touched on and definitely should have given more time and attention to.

10 The Outside Reaction To Rosewood

There was a lot going on in Rosewood throughout the course of the series. From mysterious deaths to disappearances, it’s definitely safe to assume that people in the rest of the state or even the rest of the country were likely aware of the mysterious events of this small town, but we never really got a look at how the outside world was reacting to Alison’s disappearance or the other strange things happening in this town. One interesting thing that the writers should have included was a look at how the rest of the world was handling everything going on in Rosewood.

9 Rosewood’s Reaction To Alison’s Return

Early in the series, it was presumed that Alison was dead. She had been missing for over a year and there was a body found that was identified to be hers. So, when she came back and it was revealed she was alive and just in hiding, it was a huge deal to the fans.

And since her disappearance and ultimate declaration of death was a huge thing in Rosewood, it’s easy for viewers to assume that it was probably also a huge deal when she came back. Something the writers should have paid more attention to is the way that the people in the town handled the news that she was alive and back.

8 “Maya Knew”

What did Maya know? That’s the question that remains on the minds of many Pretty Little Liars fans but unfortunately, it’s a question that we’ll likely never get an answer to. While in Radley, Maya infamously said the phrase, “Miss Aria, you’re a killer, not Ezra’s wife.” The Liars realized that the first letter of each word spelled out the phrase “Maya knew.”

This was a big reveal and many people wondered what Maya knew, but since Maya had been killed… We never found out. Many fans believe that it was Maya being aware that her killer was after her, but the show really didn’t focus much on that situation in general, so it’s hard to say.

7 The Ghost Story

The Halloween episodes of Pretty Little Liars were definitely the best. Although they were spooky, sometimes silly, and not always completely related to the series, they were definitely a lot of fun.

In an early Halloween episode, Alison told a story about two sisters, one of whom killed the other during a fight over their favorite toy. When Hanna’s mother, Ashley, saw one of the girls from the story, fans knew it had to mean something, right? Sadly, no. Although this may have just been some spooky Halloween fun, Ashley’s reaction to seeing the girl definitely felt like she was important, but the show never explained it.

6 The Dollhouse

The Dollhouse is an underground lair built by The A-Team where the Liars were kept after being kidnapped. It had several rooms, all set up to look exactly like a room from either the Liars’ homes or from somewhere in Rosewood, and was a huge part of the later episodes of the series.

Unfortunately, the show really didn’t show very much of what happened to the Liars in The Dollhouse. We know the Liars were kept there and forced to do some horrible things, but outside of some minor flashbacks, we didn’t see much about what happened in there.

5 Alison’s Life During Her Disappearance

Alison spent quite a while away from Rosewood. Throughout the series, the Liars had to try to put together the pieces of the secret life Alison was leading prior to her disappearance and the show explored the reasons that she left and her return to Rosewood, but not a lot about what she did and what happened to her while she was away. More information about what Alison was doing while she was in hiding would’ve really helped to make her return feel more important.

4 N.A.T. Club

N.A.T. Club is the name of an unofficial extracurricular that was started by Jason DiLaurentis, Ian Thomas and Garrett Reynolds. Together, they got up to some pretty shady things and in the early episodes of the series, the Liars believed that different members may have been responsible for Alison’s disappearance and death.

As the series went on, the N.A.T. Club faded from importance as a storyline and was basically forgotten without a lot of explanation. No, they weren’t responsible for Alison’s disappearance, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t still want more information about them.

3 The Liars Pre-Disappearance

There were quite a few flashbacks that showed the Liars’ lives while they were friends with Alison, but more of them would’ve been fun to see. Even flashbacks to the days before Alison and the Liars became such good friends would’ve been something fun for the series to explore. Information about why Alison picked each of the Liars to befriend and how she got their secrets out of them would’ve added so much to this mysterious series.

2 All The Clues About Aria

Pretty Little Liars 10 Storylines That Deserved More Attention

Fans had a lot of theories about who was on The A-Team throughout the course of the series, but one of the biggest theories in the fandom was the idea that Aria Montgomery herself might be Big A.

From her Black Swan dress to Mona calling her “Big A” as a nickname to her handwriting on the window, it really seemed like the writers were trying to set up Aria being Uber A. But, as we all know, she wasn’t. Were these clues all supposed to go somewhere or was it all a red herring? The show delving more into what these clues meant and giving them meaning outside of convincing fans that Aria was Uber A would’ve been interesting to see.

1 Bethany

Pretty Little Liars 10 Storylines That Deserved More Attention

This one is a pretty simple storyline that deserved more attention from the writers. Bethany is the young Radley patient whose body was discovered and mistakenly identified as Alison when the authorities believed that they had found her body. Outside of this, we don’t know much about Bethany. Considering she played a huge role in some major plot points, it’s strange that her character was basically never developed or explored fully.
