Lisa Vanderpump of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills made it Instagram and Twitter official that she will be a judge on the upcoming ABC TV dog grooming reality TV competition show, called Pooch Perfect. ABC’s eight-episode dog grooming competition show Pooch Perfect will also be featuring Rebel Wilson as the host. Rebel also hosts the Australian version.
Anyone who knows Lisa Vanderpump knows what a huge dog lover she is and that she is an animal activist. Lisa and Ken run a dog rescue/foundation, Vanderpump Pets. In fact, their pet Giggy was the inspiration behind their foundation. Vanderpump also launched a campaign, Stop Yulin Forever, which has helped to stop the dog meat trade in Asia and end the Yulin Dog Meat Festival.
Lisa posted on her Instagram and Twitter, “So excited to be a part of this incredible new show on ABC! Stay tuned for more info and get ready to see some extremely talented groomers and some supremely perfect fluffies!!! Hollywood Reporter also revealed the big news, as well as other 2 judges joining Vanderpump. They are celebrity dog groomer Jorge Bendersky and vet Dr. Callie Harris. THR mentioned that the series was originally created in the UK. The series will showcase 10 dog groomers from all over the country, The three top teams will compete for a cash prize and of course bragging rights.
Lisa’s good news comes on the heels of very sad news for the Vanderpumps, as it was sadly revealed that their beloved furbaby, Giggy, passed away last December at age 10. No doubt this has been a devastating time for Lisa, her husband Ken, and their family. Luckily, The Vanderpumps have five or so other furry friends in their Villa Rosa household to comfort them. What a welcome sigh of relief having Lisa host Pooch Perfect will be. It’s the perfect way for her to divert her attention and bring a bit of joy to herself and smiles to those watching.
Pooch Perfect will be the second show of this kind to air recently. HBO Max had a similar dog grooming competition show last year called, Haute Dog. Dogs are also the theme on the new reality competition series airing on Amazon Prime, The Pack, hosted by Lindsey Vonn. Perhaps, all this interest in our furry friends has to do with a renewed appreciation for our furbabies because of the important role they have played to all of us during the pandemic, as we have been forced to stay at home. Dogs really are man’s best friend and as it turns out, our canine companions have been our savior too. Glad to see they’re getting the attention they so deserve and a bit of extra pampering along the way.
