Comedian Amy Phillips claimed she felt attacked by The Real Housewives of New York City star Bethenny Frankel after impersonating her while in quarantine for COVID-19. Amy has been impersonating housewives for 10 years and is able to accurately mimic every housewife from all franchises. Her skills were put to the test during a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live when host Andy Cohen asked her to deliver iconic lines from various Housewives shows as the housewives who said them. She went through it with ease, even managing to impersonate Salt Lake City housewife Meredith Marks without offending her and getting recognition from her and Andy for how spot-on it was. Meredith was able to guess all the impersonations, proving she is the queen of Bravo impersonations.

Bethenny first appeared on RHONY season 1 and is often thought of as a top-tier housewife. It was recently announced that Bethenny’s long courtroom drama with her ex-husband, Jason Hoppy, is finally over. The couple filed for divorce in 2012 after two years of marriage and have been in court ever since. Their divorce was finalized in January 2021, but they remained in court over custody disagreements regarding their daughter, Bryn. During a recent court appearance, a judge ruled that Bethenny no longer has to pay Jason child support because their daughter spends most of her time with her. He also agreed to change the schedule they have, since Bryn allegedly doesn’t want to see her father often.

Amy is now claiming Bethenny attacked her on social media after she posted a comedic video on Instagram during quarantine. During an interview with In The Know’s podcast, We Should Talk, Amy opened up about an exchange she had with Bethenny on Instagram. In the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic when everyone was at home quarantining, Amy posted a video on Instagram showcasing how different housewives wash their hands. Bethenny didn’t seem too pleased with Amy’s funny video, as Amy said she direct messaged her, reminding her to focus on the issues the world is facing. Amy responded by saying she is focusing on the bigger picture but that she is a comedian and is trying to better people’s lives by making them laugh. She also pointed out to Bethenny that she used the video as an opportunity to promote her philanthropic foundation. Amy explained that she felt like Bethenny slapped her in the face and thinks she probably isn’t a fan of hers anymore.

Prior to this incident, Amy said her interactions with Bethenny had only been positive. For a while, Amy claimed Bethenny just ignored her impressions, which to her was neither a good sign nor a bad sign. She remembered being surprised that Bethenny didn’t address it because she thought she has a good sense of humor. Later, Amy remembered a time when Bethenny was launching her SiriusXM radio show, and she decided to call in while doing her Bethenny impression. She recalled that Bethenny responded positively and found the impression to be really funny. The two hit it off, and Amy was happy to know that Bethenny had such positive feelings towards her impression. She even told Amy to continue doing it when the two ran into each other on other occasions.

Now that she’s had such a negative reaction to one of her impressions, should Amy keep impersonating Bethenny? It will be interesting to see if she chooses to take The Real Housewives of New York City star out of her rotation, or if she will continue to impersonate her and try and get back on her good side.
