Insiders reveal the secret “pact” some of The Real Housewives of New York City had against newcomer Eboni K. Williams at a recent industry event. It looks like Eboni has become an outcast among her co-stars following a poor-performing season 13. It was the first season in Housewives history that had a canceled reunion. Now amid the pause in production, it looks like three cast members are distancing themselves from the cast’s only Black housewife.
Eboni spent her debut season schooling the predominantly white cast on their white fragility and micro-aggressions towards the show’s first Black housewife. Eboni had a lot against her coming into the show. With her background as a lawyer and moderator, Eboni’s talkative lessons on race and social justice came off as “preachy” to the cast and viewers. Season 13 was so disappointing in the ratings department that producers decided to ax the scheduled reunion show and put a pause on filming season 14. While it hasn’t been announced which housewives will be returning next season. It looks like three veterans are hoping that Eboni doesn’t join them.
Over the week, Dave Quinn hosted a release party for his new Housewives tell-all book Not All Diamonds and Rosé. Held at Capitale in New York City, Luann de Lesseps, Ramona Singer, and Leah McSweeney all attended the event together and reportedly secretly agreed to leave once Eboni arrived. “Luann, Leah and Ramona had a pact [that] as soon as Eboni showed up, they would leave,” an insider told Page Six. “When Eboni entered from the right, they all were on the left and exited.” When Eboni finally did arrive, “They fled as soon as she walked in,” the insider added.
Apparently, the ladies are upset with Eboni and blaming her for the low ratings last season. “The infighting in ‘New York’ is still happening,” the source said. “They just hate her because they ain’t her.” It’s a surprise to hear Leah included in the mean girl behavior. She was Eboni’s only true friend in season 13 and the two were even seen hanging out when the cameras weren’t around. But it looks like as soon as the reunion got canceled, everyone’s true colors started to show. Eboni was already at odds with Luann and Ramona so not too much of a surprise there. But Leah not speaking to Eboni is a shocker for fans.
Eboni was unphased by the apparent snub. “Eboni was amazing,” the insider added. “She finally met Dorinda [Medley] in real life and danced the night away.” With all the heat against her, producers are likely going to bring Eboni back next season to allow her to face the rest of the ladies. The behind-the-scenes drama might make for a strong storyline in season 14. With Eboni and Dorinda finally meeting, maybe that could open the door for Dorinda’s return. The Real Housewives of New York City fans would love to have Dorinda back, It also looks like Eboni could use a friend.
