One of the most recognizable characters introduced in Rick and Morty, aside from Pickle Rick of course, is Mr. Meeseeks, who is being added to the franchise’s Dungeons and Dragons tie-in comics with Rick and Morty vs. Dungeons & Dragons: The Meeseeks Adventure. This latest trip through the multiverse stems from a long-standing partnership between the worlds of Rick and Morty and Dungeons & Dragons with a unique look at the implications a Meeseeks Box would have on the brutal world set in the D&D universe.
Rick and Morty and Dungeons & Dragons first came together in August of 2018 with the launch of the comic miniseries Rick and Morty vs. Dungeons & Dragons. The crossover follows Rick and Morty as the multiverse-traveling duo explore the joys of roleplaying games, with Rick upping the ante and bringing Morty and the rest of the Smith family to an actual Dungeons & Dragons universe where their roleplaying characters come to life in brutal fashion. The new comic, Rick and Morty vs. Dungeons & Dragons: The Meeseeks Adventure will be written by Jim Zub with art by Troy Little and Leonardo Eto, and will seemingly return fans to the world of real life D&D with an apparent Mr. Meeseeks takeover.
Writer Jim Zub took to Twitter to share the upcoming book with a picture of the cover along with a brief statement teasing ahead to the comic, writing, “#DnD has its share of blue, wish granting djinn, but none as desperate to please, persevering, or unstable as Mr. Meeseeks!” Zub gives fans a look at the upcoming chaos that is sure to ensue when hard sci-fi meets high fantasy, asking, “What happens when a pair of hapless rogues stumble upon the ultimate magic lamp?”

The cover of the book gives fans the greatest insight into what to expect in Rick and Morty vs. Dungeons & Dragons: The Meeseeks Adventure. Not only is there an army of Mr. Meeseeks, but they all have seemingly adapted to the world of Dungeons & Dragons. Readers can spot a Meeseeks of nearly every role players themselves can adopt when entering the roleplaying world. Plus, that pair of “hapless rogues” will have full control of these brutal, fantasy-powered Meeseeks, likely creating major challenges for Rick and Morty.
While it is at this time unclear exactly how Rick and Morty fit into the upcoming story, fans can assume the only reason a Meeseeks Box is in the world of Dungeons & Dragons is thanks to the Smith family, and that they will have to semi-heroically clean up the mess they made. Of course, that may be easier said than done; with the Meeseeks bound to fulfill the goal of whoever uses their box – and willing to do pretty much anything to complete their mission – this is a problem that could have world-ending scope. Rick and Morty vs. Dungeons & Dragons: The Meeseeks Adventure will be available in February of 2022.
