The sixth episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race All-Stars 6 continues the streak of greatness for this season. A queen gets her first challenge win in the franchise’s herstory and the competition remains anyone’s game. Let’s recap this very tight race.
Last week the queens said goodbye to Scarlet Envy, but this week it is revealed that half of the queens voted for Jan to go home. Luckily for Jan, Ginger won the lip-sync and her lipstick sent Scarlet packing. Had the lip-sync assassin won, who knows how they would have dealt with the tie-breaker. Maybe both bottom queens would have had to lip-sync for their right to stay? We may never know.
This week the dolls are challenged with an American Horror Story parody sketch. The acting challenges on this show are often long and rarely funny, but in this episode that was not the case. This time the sketch was very, very long. But at least these queens were giving their all. It is so evident how badly this cast wants to succeed in this competition. It makes everything more exciting.
Kylie Sonique Love fights so hard to prove she is a contender that she battles Ginger Minj for the coveted Jessica Lange role. Kylie wins the rock, paper, scissors for the part. It puts a lot of pressure on the queen who has waited eleven years to return to this show. In rehearsals, Kylie struggles. She is so soft-spoken and understated that she is simply not getting it. After some tips from Michelle, Kylie is able to up her game and the final product is very solid. The presentation to the judges is an on-camera performance, not a stage play, so Kylie’s subtle take reads very well. That is more than can be said for Eureka O’Hara who screams the entire sketch.
Ginger Minj is leaps and bounds better than every other queen at acting so she also lands in the top with Jan, who plays the role she was born to portray… Lea Michelle. After last week’s harsh criticism that Jan is too much, it is nice to see her embrace that side of herself and use it to her advantage.
On the runway, Ginger Minj looks more beautiful than ever. Her make-up game seems to step up every episode. Eureka is perfectly fitted and looks stunning as always but the outfit is a little bland. Kylie Sonique Love shuts it all down with the sexiest latex catsuit. She is showing so much skin and the entire look is breathtakingly sexy. To paraphrase RuPaul, “Everybody say Kylie Sonique LOVE!” Pandora Boxx looks bland once again. Her looks, like her position in the competition, are always safe. Trinity K. Bonet has her best look of the season with a humungous train. Choo Choo, because we are all aboard for this queen. Jan has a cool contact lens trick and overall looks spectacular. Last week’s comments were not gonna rain on her parade.
The bottom two of the week are Ra’Jah O’Hara and A’keria Davenport who both looked beautiful on the runway, but did not shine in the acting challenge. The winner this week is Kylie. She grabs her first win ever on RuPaul’s Drag Race. Then she lip-syncs against the lip-sync assassin Manila Luzon. Kylie wipes the floor with Manila doing Dirrty by Christina Aguilera which is such a perfect Kylie song. She does backflips and side splits all over the stage.
She wins and reveals that she chose to send home A’Keria. Six different queens have won six different episodes this season. Anyone could take that crown. We still do not know what the game within a game is, but hopefully, we will find out soon. If it is anything like season 13 of RuPaul’s Drag Race the game might be that they are extending the season an extra 23 weeks.
