It has been over a decade since Kylie Sonique Love stepped onto the main stage of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 2, and she’s been up to a great deal since then. This queen is slaying the competition on All Stars 6, and this week, she got her first challenge win. For the fans who are just learning of Kylie in 2021, we have the scoop on what she has been up to since her original Drag Race season.
Kylie Sonique Love was eliminated on RuPaul’s Drag Race season 2 by Morgan McMichaels. Alas, the fans remember Kylie for her stellar lip-syncing skills and amazing backflip ability. Moreover, Kylie disclosed that she is a transgender woman during the reunion episode of Drag Race season 2. Now, this queen is continuing to make TV herstory as one of only a handful of trans contestants to compete on the show, including her All Stars 6 co-star Jiggly Caliente, who was eliminated in the second episode.
In 2019, Kylie Sonique Love released her first single entitled “Hey Hater.” According to Nicki Swift, she originally intended to write an uplifting song for Pride, but as she posted a video, an internet troll left a mean comment. Kylie is quoted saying “Like, who is literally following me, waiting until I post something just to thumbs down it? So I said ‘f*** the other song’ and fifteen minutes later, ‘Hey Hater’ was written. It literally took me fifteen minutes to write the song.”
Over the years, Kylie Sonique Love also appeared on the Holi-Slay Spectacular with other famous Drag Race queens such as Shangela and Trixie Mattel. Fun fact: Kylie was an alternate for the very first season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. In turn, Kylie was also the first contestant to do a reveal during a lip-sync. Since the Holi-Slay Spectacular special, Kylie has been advocating online to return for an All Stars season. When she landed in the bottom three last week, she passionately pleaded her case to stay on the show, saying that “this is my dream!” This week, she proved how much she wanted to stay by fighting Ginger Minj for the same role. When she won the role, she then won the entire episode and the lip-sync, securing a tip worth $10,000! Her presence on stage when lip-syncing is thrilling, and so are her backflips.
Kylie Sonique Love is a fierce Drag Race competitor, and it’s beautiful to see how much she’s grown as a queen and as a person over the last decade. Her looks are spectacular, and many fans are hoping she will make it to the finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 6.
