Secret Pokémon Home Gift Revealed For Completing The Entire Pokédex

There have been mixed reports regarding a gift users of Pokémon Home have been receiving for completing the National Dex.

Pokémon Home allows trainers to gather together all of the Pokémon they have ever caught (from Gen III onwards) in one place. Getting Pokémon caught on Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS games is tricky, but it can be done. Pokémon compatible with Sword and Shield can then be transferred into the new games on Nintendo Switch.

Home allows as many as 890 Pokémon to all be housed in one place, hopefully silencing the complainers who had a problem with the slimmed-down Dex in Sword and Shield. Hardened trainers who have been playing the games since Gen III, and have been able to transfer all of those previously caught Pokémon into Home, might have already completed what is the most extensive National Dex in Pokémon history.

Seems as if there is a gift for doing so, although there has been a little confusion over what that gift might be. Scootio revealed on Reddit that they were gifted a Magearna for completing the Dex. Magearna is the steel/fairy type Pokémon first introduced to trainers via Sun and Moon. The only way to land one of these mythical Pokémon was to scan a QR code during a special event.

Scootio’s Magearna is level ten, as can be seen above. However, there have been conflicting reports of some trainers receiving a level 50 Pokéball-colored Magearna for completing the Dex. The special version of Magearna has never featured in any of the series’ games, and has only existed as a part of the anime TV show. It seems a more fitting prize for catching all 890 Pokémon, but a prize that is so far unconfirmed.

Just to muddy the waters even further, there have also been instances of trainers claiming to have received no gift at all for completing their Pokédex. If you are lucky enough to land yourself a Magearna, the Pokémon can’t be transferred into and used as a part of Sword and Shield, at least not yet. Whatever the truth might be, we wouldn’t recommend getting your hopes up as you near the end of your Dex.
