It’s fairly evident that Michael Richards used every acting muscle in his body to bring out the vivacious Kramer, and any Seinfeld scene that doesn’t have the K-Man in it just feels so incomplete. That said, not all fans value him, his frenetic energy, or the fact that he brings out the best in his friends. Even though Kramer is adored worldwide, a small fraction of Redditors disagrees with the majority. Here are their hot takes.

Kramer Is The Weakest Link In The Seinfeld Universe

In one Reddit post titled “Why Kramer is my least favorite main character,” user morbidlyatease says, “I know. Kramer is our beloved doofus. But over the years I’ve found myself increasingly more annoyed by this character. He is the craziest, but also the least funny. But Kramer was not written to be a run-of-the-mill character, and that’s what makes him great. And it’s incorrect to say that he didn’t have a part in the Seinfeldian dialogue dynamic since he’d always indulge in interesting conversations. It is he who introduced TV’s most memorable villain, Newman, to the gang, and together they dazzled the viewers with their comedic antics. Kramer’s zany get-rich-quick schemes ended up being the show’s most enduring gags.

Jason Alexander Deserved Best Supporting Actor For All Those Emmys

As sad as it may be, Jason Alexander (who played George Costanza) was the only one out of the four characters not to win an Emmy. Kramer Is Not Funny

In a thread asking for unpopular opinions about Seinfeld, Reddit user localwanderlust simply states, “Kramer’s not funny. Sorry not sorry.”

Kramer, admittedly, gets more attention for his brilliant pieces of physical comedy. That said, he’s also known to point out the awkward truths and echo audiences’ thoughts most of the time in some of his best quotes. If it wasn’t for Kramer, the priceless and comedic B-plots in episodes such as “The Soup Nazi,” “The Fusilli Jerry,” and “The Pick” would have never existed in the first place.

He’s A Sorry Excuse For A Neighbor And A Friend

Redditor ipcenx takes their dislike for Kramer to a whole new level, stating they “would avoid that sorry excuse for a neighbor, friend, and human at any cost.” while also adding that Kramer “would never be welcome” in their home. They base their opinion of Kramer on him being a moocher, which, on deeper analysis, is only partly true.

First off, Kramer was always welcome at Jerry’s home or he’d lock his door, and second, he’d do absolutely anything for his friend. Viewers haven’t forgotten how Kramer abandoned his and Newman’s recycling scam mission in “The Bottle Deposit” to chase Jerry’s stolen car on the Ohio highway. While Kramer takes whatever he wants from Jerry’s fridge, he’s also a fiercely loyal and caring friend. All in all, it balances out fairly well.

He Deserved The Ending

In the same thread, Reddit user daddymeltzer opines something that splits the audiences into two but unequal halves. They say, “The finale was amazing and ended exactly the right way.” It’s is pertinent to mention that Seinfeld’s ending is generally hated because it was Kramer who jumped up and down the plane and caused it to crash in the fictional town of Latham, Massachusetts. It is there the ragtag group picked on a carjacking victim and were subsequently arrested for violating the Good Samaritan Law.

That said, Seinfeld loyalists don’t see eye to eye with the Redditor on this because there’s nothing worse than witnessing favorite fictional characters lose everything, (including their reputation) in the closing moments of the show. Fans would have definitely been happier with a happy ending.

Michael Richards Shouldn’t Fall Down So Much

Another unpopular opinion in the same thread reads, “Micheal Richards shouldn’t fall down so much, it gets old. He can be very funny just the way he says lines or does other things. He didn’t have to fall back (pun intended) on falling to get a laugh.”

The Reddit user has undoubtedly over-focused on Micheal Richards’ moments of physical comedy. While yes, Kramer’s slapstick gags were played for laughs, at the same time, the actor has won critical acclaim for the delivery of his dialogue. Kramer is undoubtedly the most quotable character on the show and some of his quotes have only gotten funnier over time.

Kramer Is Extremely Attractive

Reddit user ZePikeno states that “Cosmo Kramer is extremely attractive,” further noting, “Now, I don’t mean exactly good looking but Cosmo Kramer is extremely attractive to me.”

Most fans would contest this opinion, as Kramer’s character is the embodiment of anything but physical attractiveness. While viewers (including the executives at Calvin Klein from “The Pick”) agree that Kramer has a nice physique, they see him more as a wobbly, twitchy powerhouse of a comedian who can master most forms of comedy.

He Is Obnoxious

One of the curiously unpopular Kramer opinions comes from Reddit user zgax and they say, “To many, Kramer is their favorite character, but each time he pops in I cringe. He’s obnoxious, messy, intrusive, loud and extremely unfunny.”

Whilst the user is entitled to their (unpopular) opinion, most Seinfeld fans would disagree with this description of Kramer. The K-man was neither obnoxious nor intrusive. He continued to be the friendliest person in the room, even when his friends were grouchy. As for the Redditor’s second claim, the gang of four was known for its co-dependent dynamic, therefore cherry-picking Kramer’s actions and calling them “intrusive” just wouldn’t sit right with most fans.
