In a sentimental Instagram post, Selling Sunset star Heather Young shared with followers about her experiences in motherhood, specifically being a “bonus mom.” Known for her real estate work at the Oppenheim Group, Heather has learned to balance the rigor of Hollywood real estate with the responsibilities of motherhood. Working alongside a number of dedicated mothers, including Maya Vander and Amanza Smith, Heather continues to succeed in both aspects of her life.
Selling Sunset is not the only reality television series that has played an important role in Heather’s life, having married Tarek El Moussa, the star of Flip or Flop, earlier this year. While any marriage has its fair share of difficulties, specifically within a celebrity pairing, being a step-mother only adds to the complications. Trying to manage their careers, their new relationship and a new family has given stars Heather and Tarek a fun, yet rambunctious beginning to their new lives together.
On Instagram, Heather shared a number of photos with her step-children, Taylor and Brayden. While many may assume that being a step-mom was a burden for Heather, she claims that the children are sources of both “love and joy.” Pictured holding hands and with big smiles, Heather seems to be embracing her role as a “bonus mom” and settling into her new family. Heather enjoys the fun of parenting but also made sure to point out her seriousness about her role, claiming, “They are our number one priority.”

Now working out of the Orange County branch of the Oppenheim Group, Selling Sunset’s Heather has moved from city living to working in suburbia in Newport Beach, California. As a wife, mother and agent, Heather has taken up a variety of new roles as the series has progressed. With rumors of a new season, Heather may have more to offer audiences, providing more than just a side role for the series. While Heather’s marriage and family have caused an argument or two on camera, she seems to be finding her way and unapologetically sharing about her new life with Tarek and the kids.
Heather has played a mixed role on the show, sometimes being quietly supportive and at other times getting caught up in the office theatrics. As the most recent season of the series ended, Heather seems to be maturing, with marriage and motherhood developing her into a grounded, mature employee of the Oppenheim Group. Selling Sunset may take up much of Heather’s life and social media pages, yet she has chosen to emphasize family above it all, unable to “picture her life without [Taylor and Brayden].”
