Selling Sunset fans will now be able to watch reality star Heather Rae Young and HGTV star Tarek El Moussa wed on national television. The duo’s nuptials have been a long time coming with many ups and downs throughout their wedding planning process since getting engaged in July 2020. Heather recently told her fans that while she already had a wedding planner and sent our save the date invitations, she had to put her wedding ceremony on hold after they decided to celebrate in a different fashion. It turns out the process for the new direction was so stressful that the upcoming newlyweds took a break from further planning. Once they were ready to get back into it, the couple hired a new wedding planner and started from scratch.
As the couple begins to count down the days to their “I do’s,” Tarek warned his fans that his upcoming wedding, honeymoon and pre-celebrations are way over budget. He noted that it’s ultimately his bride-to-be’s fault since she has very expensive taste. That said, he’s constantly impressed by her way of juggling all of this while filming her Netflix show and playing with her step-kids. While Tarek was on the topic, he did leave fans with a little insight into their big day. The 40-year-old father will be tying the knot this October, and then will be flying out to the Maldives and Dubai for their honeymoon.
In a new interview with Tarek and Heather, the couple told Entertainment Tonight that they have decided to film their wedding to create a magical one-hour special that will premiere on Discovery+ in December. Though Tarek and Heather are both now excited about inviting cameras into their big day, they weren’t always thinking that way. “When we decided to do a wedding special, it wasn’t an easy decision because a wedding is so beautiful and intimate and private so we actually went back and forth for months deciding,” Heather said. The reality star continued to explain that at first it was a “hard no,” but as they started to work on the little details such as the tux fitting with Tarek’s son, 6-year-old Brayden, and dress shopping with his 11-year-old daughter Taylor, they thought it might be cute to allow their fans to witness these little moments. “And I think too that just showing the world our love and you know, it’s funny, I hear a lot, especially from my page, I don’t know if he gets it, but people think our love is cheesy or maybe it’s not real,” Heather said. “We really are so in love.”

The couple also revealed much more information about their upcoming wedding, noting that while they were originally going to wed in Mexico, they switched gears and planned this new dream day on the California coast in just four months. The aesthetic will be all black, gold, white and champagne. Furthermore, the special will feature everything leading up to the ceremony including Heather’s dress fitting, engagement photo shoot and Tarek’s children. “Brayden is the ring bearer and I’m a little nervous about him holding the ring and then Taylor, she’s kind of whatever she wants,” Heather said. “She’s like the head bridesmaid, she’s the head maid of honor, she’s the flower girl, so, she’s everything.”
Since Tarek mentioned the wedding is way over budget, I’m sure the payout the couple is receiving from the network will kindly cover the majority of that hefty price tag. Heather won’t be the first Selling Sunset star to televise her wedding, as Mary Fitzgerald and Christine Quinn also allowed Netflix’s cameras into their intimate day. Now that Discovery+ has the exclusive, fans are curious if the ceremony will also be featured on Heather’s Netflix show.
