All of ATLOK’s main characters are unique and interesting; each one of them has a distinct and compelling character arc that contributes wonderfully to the general narrative of the show.

Throughout ATLOK, there are many memorable quotes from the main characters, but few are more significant than their first and last lines. Jinora

Like all of the main characters in ATLOK, Jinora undergoes vast character development throughout the show’s four seasons. She goes from a wide-eyed Airbending prodigy to a fully-fledged Airbending master while also developing her special connection with the spirit world.

Jinora’s first line perfectly encapsulates her eagerness to learn, which is a trait that underpins her entire character throughout the show. Just like the stories of her grandmother’s past adventures, Jinora’s life is certainly not shy of action, and she ultimately becomes a key member of Team Avatar. Lin Beifong

Lin’s final line is a great indicator of how much she has grown throughout ATLOK. Lin pays a compliment to her sister, Suyin, which shows how far the pair have come in terms of their relationship since their first fractious on-screen encounter.

Tenzin

“Yes, Ikki, As I’ve Been Telling You For The Last Fifteen Minutes, We Are Finally Here.” – “That Doesn’t Seem Like A Good Idea!”

Tenzin’s first line in ATLOK functions well at introducing the audience to his personality and family situation. As the primary representative of the modern Air Nation, Tenzin must be a bastion for unfaltering patience and kindness. Ikki certainly tests Tenzin’s patience during his first ATLOK appearance, making for a very funny moment that prompts his grumpy first words.

Tenzin’s final line of ATLOK acts as a perfect summary of his character because he is always looking out for others, even Varrick. After Asami warns Tenzin that Varrick is looking to mess around with a wingsuit, Tenzin runs to make sure he does not hurt himself without a second thought, which is a testament to his selfless nature.

Asami

“Oh No! I’m So Sorry. I Didn’t See You.” – “I’ve Always Wanted To See What The Spirit World’s Like.”

Asami crashes onto the small-screen in unfortunate circumstances, having struck Mako with her motorcycle. Her initial reaction is quite telling of her personality, as she is immediately apologetic and concerned about Mako’s wellbeing. From here, Asmai becomes an integral part of Team Avatar and ultimately forms a romantic relationship with Korra in the show’s finale.

Asami’s final line is spoken to Korra just before they go on vacation in the Spirit World. The line is certainly indicative of Asami’s sense of adventure and willingness to try new things, which is something she showcases throughout ATLOK.

Bolin

“There You Are. I’ve Been Looking Everywhere For You.” – “You May Now Do The Thing.”

Bolin establishes himself as a romantic from his very first on-screen appearance in ATLOK by flirting with Korra. Although this ultimately did not pan out how he might have hoped, Bolin continued to show his romantic side to other people throughout the show’s four seasons before ending up in a relationship with Opal.

With this in mind, it is no surprise that Bolin’s final line of ATLOK is at Varrick and Zhu Li’s wedding. Bolin is their marriage officiate and delivers his final line to them in typical Bolin fashion, never shying away from saying something witty yet meaningful.

Mako

“Psst, Bolin.” – “I’ve Got Your Back And I Always Will.”

Mako initially comes across as a serious and no-nonsense person, and it is fair to say that this remains consistent throughout the four seasons of ATLOK. While initially acting cold towards Korra in “A Leaf in the Wind”, Mako eventually grows to love her, a love that lasts to the very final episode of the show.

This love is encapsulated by Mako’s final remark to Korra, where he explains that he would do anything to keep her safe. Although Mako and Korra’s romantic relationship does not last, it is clear that Mako, like the others in Team Avatar, views Korra with much admiration and is content with fighting alongside her as friends.

Korra

“I’m The Avatar, You Gotta Deal With It!” – “Sounds Perfect.”

Korra’s first line is the best possible summary of her character, showcasing her confident, fiery, and spirited personality. Unlike her predecessor Aang, Korra grasped onto her Avatar status with great gusto, and her enthusiasm is evident from her very first appearance. Although there were a few bumps in the road, Korra ultimately proves to be an excellent Avatar, overcoming some very difficult obstacles throughout ATLOK’s four seasons.

Korra’s last line signifies the ideal ending for her character arc; a perfect vacation is definitely something Korra needs and deserves after everything that she has accomplished in her short time as the Avatar.
