Throughout the three seasons of Sex Education, fans have been introduced to several memorable and empowering characters. Although she may not have had a major role in the show at first, Ola Nyman (Patricia Allison) has quickly become one of the best characters on Sex Education due to her extreme loyalty and lovable personality.

Sadly, some Sex Education fans thought that Ola had one of the weakest character arcs in season 3 due to the fact that Ola’s grief over her mother’s death and her difficulty adjusting to change were all brushed aside in favor of other storylines. However, with the season 3 finale hinting that there will be even more drama for all in the Nyman-Milburn household, fans are certain that Ola will be taking center stage once again in season 4 and have a ton of storylines.

Ola’s Relationship With Lily Should Be Developed

After getting together near the end of season 2 and spending most of season 3 at odds with each other, Ola and Lily Iglehart’s (Tanya Reynolds) romance hasn’t had much time to blossom. Since Lily was having an identity crisis due to Hope Haddon’s (Jemima Kirke) repressive and discriminatory rules, and Ola was struggling with the news that her father was having a baby with Jean Milburn (Gillian Anderson), both teens ended up miscommunicating and distancing themselves.

While the season 3 finale saw the two finally discuss the issues they were having, fans would be delighted to see this healthy communication carry on in season 4. It would be great to see them grow and develop together as a couple as they do bring out the best in one another.

Ola Should Re-Establish Her Bond With Otis

While Ola’s relationship with Otis Milburn (Asa Butterfield) initially started as a romance and turned into an eventual friendship, fans were quite surprised to see that they barely interacted in season 3. In fact, their relationship seemed to have deteriorated that much that Ola didn’t even realize that Otis wasn’t even on the bus in season 3’s “Episode 5” (despite them living in the same house at the time).

If Jean and Jakob’s romance does end up working out, it would be interesting to see if Otis and Ola’s relationship will become more sibling-like or if they will become more supportive of each other’s choices too. With the introduction of baby Joy, fans are certain that the two will bond over becoming older siblings.

Could Ola Discover The Truth About The Paternity Test?

There was one twist in the season 3 finale that no fan saw coming, and that was the revelation that Jakob Nyman (Mikael Persbrandt) was not the father of baby Joy. While Sex Education fans are certain that the questions surrounding Joy’s paternity will be answered in the following season, fans are curious as to how will Jakob, Ola, and Otis will find out?

While it’s likely that Jean will be the one to tell Jakob the truth, the writers may decide to take a far more dramatic route and have Ola stumble upon the DNA results. Since there is still some unresolved tension between Jean and Ola, the writers may use this subplot as a way to explore their dynamic and have them discuss the issues between them.

Ola’s Grief Surrounding Her Mother’s Death Should Be Addressed

After Jean and Jakob revealed the two families would be moving in together so they could raise their unborn baby together, Ola struggled in the midst of all the change. While she was glad that her father seemed to have found happiness again with Jean, Ola confided in Adam Groff (Connor Swindells) and Lily that she was missing her mother a lot.

Sadly, this storyline didn’t get as much screentime in season 3 as it should have since some of the other characters didn’t notice her pain or they were struggling with their own problems. Although the writers did try and explore it in the last episode of season 3, with Ola and Jakob having a brief heart-to-heart, it should not end here since it appears that Ola has only begun processing her grief.

Ola’s Friendship With Viv & Aimee Should Be Developed More

Although there were a lot of friendships in season 3 that no Sex Education fan saw coming, fans were glad to see that Viv Odusanya (Chinenye Ezeude) and Ola continued to bond past season 2. Since the only friend Viv had in season 2 was Jackson Marchetti (Kedar Williams-Stirling), it was great to see that she felt confident enough to confide in Ola about her relationship with Eugene (Reece Richards). Ezeude and Allison also have great chemistry so it would please fans to see this friendship continue.

It would also bring a lot of joy to fans if the writers could develop her friendship with Aimee Gibbs (Aimee Lou Wood) too. With Maeve Wiley (Emma Mackey) set to be in America for three months, it would break the fans’ hearts to see Aimee wandering the halls by herself. Since Ola is the kindest person at Moordale, the viewers would love to see her take Aimee under her wing and make sure she was okay.

Will Ola’s Sister Make An Appearance?

Throughout the three seasons, the viewers have heard Jakob and Ola discuss how much she misses her older sister since they moved away. From what fans can gather, Ola and her sister had been very close ever since they had to take care of Jakob when he struggled with the death of their mother. Ola also revealed that her sister used to drive Jakob around to work to help out.

Since the references to the older Nyman sister have been increasing as the seasons go on, some fans have begun to speculate that she will be making an appearance sometime in the future. It would certainly prove to be an intriguing storyline – especially since the viewers would love to see her reaction to Jean and the Nyman-Milburn newfound dynamic.

More Focus On The Nyman-Milburn Dynamic

While season 3 saw the Nymans and the Milburns decide to live together, it wasn’t exactly the easiest of transitions. Ola and Otis were fighting, Jakob and Jean realized they knew nothing about each other, and there seemed to be tensions between the parents and the children. However, by the season 3 finale, it seemed as if they had all managed to find a way to make it work as a family.

Although it seems like the truth around Joy’s paternity may end up ruining the newfound dynamic they have, fans wouldn’t mind it if the Nyman-Milburn found a way to work through this too and came out stronger because of it. After the struggles Jakob, Ola, Jean, and Otis have faced, it would be nice to see them get a happy ending of sorts.

Allowing Ola To Try New Things

In the season 3 finale, Ola told Lily that she was going to try and be more open-minded, which led to the two of them bonding over the stars and “the Eighth.” With this promise, fans may see Ola experiment and try new things that she might not have thought or considered before.

This might also help the writers develop her character some more since Ola seemed to be quite set in her opinions and beliefs. By letting fans see her engage in new extracurriculars, events, or hobbies, the writers will be adding another fun layer to Ola’s character (and could also lead to new friendships between the students).
