This event is great for both new and experienced players, because it grants you the opportunity to find a Hoppip with 100% perfect IV stats and complete its Pokédex entries.

Hoppip’s 100% perfect IV in Pokémon Go explained

A good reason for partaking in February’s Community Day is the opportunity to catch a perfect Hoppip in Pokémon Go.

If you take the time to train it properly, Jumpluff – Hoppip’s final evolution – can be quite the useful team member in the Great League. For this reason, it’s worth finding a Hoppip with 100% IV stats.

The CP values which correspond to perfect 15/15/15 stats for Hoppip are as follows:

• Level 30 (wild CP maximum) – 514
• Level 35 (weather boosted CP maximum) – 557

The wild CP value aligns with your current trainer level until you reach Level 30, so, since the majority of the player base is above this level, we’ve kept to these values for simplicity’s sake. If, however, you’re currently below Level 30, these values will be different.

Hoppip evolution chart: What does Hoppip evolve into?

Hoppip has two evolutions – Skiploom and Jumpluff – which require 25 candies and 100 candies in turn.

Community Day – running from 11am to 5pm (local time) – will give you more than enough time to collect Hoppip Candy for both evolving this Pokémon, teaching it new moves and powering it up.

If you’ve purchased a Go Tour: Johto ticket, or are planning to, it’s also worth collecting enough Hoppip candy to complete its full evolution line during this event, because there could be an evolution-based Collection Challenge.

Thanks to the Valentine’s Day 2022 event overlapping with the Community Day, you’ll automatically receive 6 Hoppip candy every time you catch one of these Pokémon. There are, however, other methods you can utilise to increase your candy yield:

• Using Pinap Berries will reward you with 12 catch candies.
• Evolving a flying or grass-type Mega Evolution, such as Mega Venusaur or Mega Pidgeot, will grant an extra 1 candy per catch.

These extra methods are very useful if you’re only able to play for a small part of the Community Day event.

The triple catch stardust bonus is also useful if you’re planning on doing a lot of evolving or powering up during this event – even if you’re not creating the perfect Jumpluff!

Before evolving a Hoppip, remember to check its IV stats or search 3* and 4* to see which ones are worth investing in. Jumpluff’s exclusive Charged move – Acrobatics – will be available till 7pm (local time) on Community Day. If you miss this time window, you can either use an Elite TM or wait till the December Community Day.

Jumpluff moves and best moveset recommendations explained

We recommend using a moveset of Bullet Seed (Fast), with Aerial Ace and Energy Ball (Charged) for Jumpluff in Pokémon Go.

At the time of writing, the energy cost for Acrobatics is yet to be confirmed and, depending on what that cost may be, it might be worth using this move instead of Aerial Ace. Either way, we recommend including one of these moves to take advantage of Jumpluff’s flying-type.

When it comes to grass-type Charged attack choices, Energy Ball has the lowest energy cost while still providing you with a good amount of power. If, however, you want Jumpluff to pack more of a punch, Solar Beam is an excellent choice, but, keep in mind, Jumpluff has to survive long enough to use it.

The above is, of course, our opinion and Jumpluff’s full moveset, accessed using Fast and Charged TMs, is as follows:

Fast Attacks:

• Bullet Seed (Grass)
• Infestation (Bug)

Charged Attacks:

• Acrobatics (Flying – Community Day exclusive move)
• Aerial Ace (Flying)
• Dazzling Gleam (Fairy)
• Energy Ball (Grass)
• Solar Beam (Grass)

Along with the chance of creating a Jumpluff with a strong moveset, this Community Day is the first time you can catch a shiny Hoppip…

April 2022 introduces the Silent Schemes event, which requires learning new Leader counters and Giovanni counters. Elsewhere, we’ve recently seen new Ditto disguises as part of the Season of Alola, which also introduced An Akala Adventure and more Gen 7 Pokémon including Fomantis and Tapu Lele. Elsewhere, off the back of the Go Tour Johto event is Masterwork Research Apex to complete.

What does shiny Hoppip, shiny Skiploom and shiny Jumpluff look like in Pokémon Go?

Collecting the shiny form for the highlighted Pokémon is one of the biggest draws for any Community Day event.

Thanks to the increased shiny rate for Community Day and how catching Pokémon of the same type naturally increases your chance of encountering shinies, it’s easier to catch shiny Pokémon during these events.

When it comes to actually finding a shiny Pokémon, you first need to start a catch encounter with a Pokémon in the wild. You’ll easily be able to tell whether the Pokémon you’re facing is shiny or not by the sparkles which appear at the start of the encounter, shiny icon next to its name and, of course, the alternative colouring.

If this is your first time facing this shiny Pokémon, we highly recommend using a Golden Razz Berry and Ultra Balls to increase your chances of catching it.

Due to shiny Hoppip being released as part of February 2022’s Community Day, we don’t, at the time of writing, have a screenshot of it in Pokémon Go. We can, however, show you what Hoppip looks like in the mainline Pokémon games since the design will be the same.

If you want to evolve a shiny Hoppip, we recommend waiting till the end of the Community Day. This is in case you catch multiple shiny Hoppips and want to catch their IVs before deciding which one to evolve.

By completing this evolution before 7pm (local time) on Community Day, you not only ensure you have a shiny Jumpluff but it will know the exclusive Charged Attack, Acrobatics.

Community Day is a great opportunity to add a new shiny Pokémon to your collection, so, if you have the time, make sure you catch a bunch of Hoppips!
