Skyrim How to Unlock Every Follower

Whether it’s a Nord, elf, or nonhumanoid species, Skyrim has dozens of followers to unlock to accompany the Dragonborn in their never-ending journey. Followers can come from an array of objectives, and they’re all eligible to fight alongside the Dragonborn as they attempt to save Skyrim at large or an NPC from a bandit. Followers make up some of the best characters in Skyrim, and knowing how to unlock each of them will make sure that the Dragonborn has the right accomplice for the right quest.

Depending on the race that a player chooses for the Dragonborn, some followers may act differently towards them. Additionally, some of the quest requirements to recruit several Skyrim followers may already be completed long before the future companion is met. Followers tend to specialize in one or two of the many skill trees available in Skyrim, such as two-handed weapons, archery, destruction magic, and more.

Skyrim allows players to bring along one nonhumanoid follower and one humanoid follower along with them. The Dragonborn has a large number of followers to choose from, so it should come as no surprise that some of these characters are the most annoying companions in Skyrim. Additionally, some of the followers can be married to, and a few of the animal can be adopted as pets if the Dragonborn has a child that approves of the pet.
