Tommy Wiseau approves of this #MadeInDreams version of The Room.

If you haven’t seen The Room, you’re in for a treat. It’s been described as “the worst movie ever made,” but that doesn’t even tell half the story.

The Room was written, directed, and stars the filmmaking tour de force that is Tommy Wiseau. Born somewhere in Europe (nobody really knows for sure where and his accent makes it impossible to guess), Wiseau dreamed of making movies his entire life. Independently wealthy from equally unknown circumstances that remain clouded in mystery to this day, Wiseau decided to make his own movie after moving to Los Angeles in the early 2000s.

Wiseau did go to community college for film classes, but he was otherwise completely untrained in the craft of filmmaking. And it shows. Wiseau’s script is incomprehensible, his acting is jilted and bizarre, and the movie ends with a 5-minute suicide scene that seems to come out of left field (spoiler alert).

It’s also got a few gloriously idiotic scenes, such as the “oh hi, Mark” scene recreated in Dreams below.

From Dreams creator Ambient_Moon comes this beautiful recreation that was lovingly crafted in Dreams, the PS4 game-making game. The bizarre mouth movements and stilted posture aren’t actually artifacts of the game, but faithful renditions of what was actually shown in the real movie.

Don’t believe me? Compare the Dreams version with the original.

Admittedly, Mark’s entry into the scene is way funnier in the Dreams version than the real version. Perhaps Wiseau should take notes for a director’s cut.

If you’d like to learn more about The Room and the wacky character that is Tommy Wiseau, you should really check out The Disaster Artist. Starring James Franco as Wiseau, the movie tells the story of just how The Room was created and the bizarre circumstances that surrounded it, including the enduring mystery of just how someone spent $6 million to make such an awful piece of cinema.

Oh, and check out Dreams if you’ve got a PS4. You can make neat stuff in it, like breakfast. Or other games. Or anything, really.
