Square Enix’s big budget title Marvel’s Avengers is getting a major addition to its cast of superheroes this month.

Marvel fan favourite, your friendly neighbourhood superhero, Spider-Man will be web-slinging his way into Marvel’s Avengers, it has been announced. But he will be exclusive to PlayStation owners of the game.

Developed by Crystal Dynamics, Marvel’s Avengers is available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and on PC. But only the PlayStation versions of the game will see the addition of Spider-Man.

Patch 2.2 will launch with PlayStation-exclusive hero Spider-Man, but all versions of Marvel’s Avengers should get the new Klaw Raid. In addition, there are many other new additions including new enemies, new outfits inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and earnable cosmetics. The update launches November 30.

Klaw Raid will see players assembling their best four-player squad to tackle the sonic monster Klaw. This follows the events of the War for Wakanda and now Klaw is back with a vengeance, intent on destroying the homeland of the Black Panther. Klaw Raid has players facing off against the villian and finishing him off (hopefully) and claiming some high-end gear.

For PlayStation owners, Spider-Man will swing into Marvel’s Avengers as a playable character in a Great Power Hero Event. Players can experience Spider-Man’s part of the story throughout the Avengers Initiative with unique unlockable challenges.

Peter Parker partners with the Avengers to stop a looming technological threat and forms a tentative friendship with Ms. Marvel and Black Widow while keeping his identity hidden, is the backstory to the new mission. “As a Hero accustomed to working solo, he struggles with the new dynamics of working with a team. Will he join up full time with the Avengers, or stay independent in his fight against AIM?” – is the teaser from Square Enix.

The patch will include a host of tweaks. These include a power-level increase so that the maximum power level achievable in the game will increase from 150 to 175. There is gear upgrading that will enable players to recycle gear to upgrade current gear. There will also be Per-Hero Weekly Objectives. A full list can be read here.
