Few, if any, franchises are as iconic as Star Wars, nor do they have as many memorable quotes as the Galaxy far, far away. From “Do, or do not, there is no try,” to “Hello there,” to “No, I am your father,” the franchise is chock full of lines that will be remembered for generations to come. However, there are so many other brilliant quotes that fly under the radar.
Whether it be because the content they are in is not as well known as A New Hope or because it is a throwaway line, many great quotes go largely unspoken about and underappreciated.
10 “Not At The Expense Of The Moment. Be Mindful Of The Living Force, My Young Padawan.” – Qui-Gon Jinn
- This quote comes from The Phantom Menace (1999).
This is one of the first lines of The Phantom Menace and the first drop of wisdom from Qui-Gon, who, in a short time, proved himself to be one of the best and most fascinating Jedi in the prequels.
Telling Obi-Wan not to sacrifice the moment in favor of the future and the beyond showcases Qui-Gon’s differing ideologies from other Jedi. Qui-Gon is more interested in the Living Force, the moment, rather than the future. This line is throwaway but packs a lot into it when Qui-Gon’s character is better understood.
9 “You Might Wanna Quit While You’re Behind.” – Han Solo

Solo: A Star Wars Story is perhaps the most underrated Star Wars film. It is full of great lines, many of which come from Lando Calrissian and Han Solo. This particular quip is scarcely talked about and comes from their Sabacc game.
After Lando says, “You might wanna quit while you’re ahead,” Han hits him back with this. It is one of many tiny moments that highlights the quality of Alden Ehrenreich’s unsung performance. It is witty and charismatic in an awesome Han and Lando scene.

Senator Riyo Chuchi is not a name that immediately springs to mind even for fans of The Clone Wars, but is a great minor character who gives this powerful message.
It sounds like it should be coming from Padmé, being such a beautifully written piece of dialogue about leadership. It shows the sacrifice of those constantly fighting for the innocent people, whether they be Senators, Jedi, or non-Jedi.

- This quote comes from The Force Awakens (2015).
Like the original and prequel trilogy before it, the sequel trilogy has some all-time Star Wars lines that will be beloved by generations to come as they grow up with the films. This may end up being one such quote.
“I’m not Resistance. I’m not a hero. I’m a stormtrooper. Like all of them, I was taken from a family I’ll never know. And raised to do one thing. But my first battle, I made a choice. I wasn’t gonna kill for them,” is the start of the quote, brilliantly delivered by John Boyega. It is a crucial moment in the character’s arc, as it shows a huge difference from where he ended up. It is lines like this that will allow fans to appreciate Finn’s growth.

Yoda has so many of Star Wars’ best quotes but this one is not often mentioned and it adds another layer to Anakin and Ahsoka’s journey. It is ironic that the Jedi Council made Ahsoka a test for Anakin, yet they were the ones to fail her in the end.

- This quote comes from Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (2019)
Jedi: Fallen Order has some excellent Star Wars video game characters, including Cere Junda, a great teacher and companion to Cal. This quote from her is never really spoken about but is a classic piece of Star Wars wisdom.
It plays on the themes of free will, fighting for what is right, and strength in the face of opposition, no matter how hard it may be. Fans are excited to see more of Cere in a sequel, and she is likely to be dropping more pieces of wisdom like this.

Pretty much every quote from Mitth’raw’nuruodo, a.k.a. Thrawn in Rebels, is underrated, and pretty much all of his dialogue shared with Hera following his capture of her is outstanding.
His understanding of his enemies has to be applauded and is on full display with this quote as he reveals he knows Hera’s identity. The way Thrawn speaks about the art of war will always inspire chills, with the villain constantly displaying his intelligence and power with words alone.

This line to Kanan reflects the journeys of characters like Anakin and is an important message for Kanan. It is up to the individual to decide their fate, choose who they are and want to be, even despite external influences.
