Insiders are claiming that Quantic Dream’s next game, rumoured to be set in the Star Wars universe, is called Star Wars Eclipse and will take place during the High Republic era.

GamesBeat reporter Jeff Grubb recently added some fuel to the fire about the rumored Star Wars game in development at the Detroit: Become Human studio, Quantic Dream. During the last Giant Bomb podcast (via GamesRadar), Grubb said Eclipse will take place during the High Republic era — a period of 200 years when the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order were at the height of their power and the exploration in the Outer Rim territories peaked.

The High Republic era is a new period for the iconic franchise, first mentioned in 2019. Audiences will first geto to know this time period in 2023 when The Acolyte series developed by Leslye Headland begins airing on Disney+.

Aside from discussing the game’s setting, Jeff Grubb also said Star Wars Eclipse is “ready to be announced soon,” hinting that fans might get a chance to see the new project by the end of the year.

According to a previous rumor, Quantic Dream has been working on the new Star Wars title for the last 18 months. With that in mind, The Game Awards might be a good place for the developers to officially introduce Eclipse, especially if Grubb is correct about it being ready to be announced. Geoff Keighley already said we can expect somewhat of 40 to 50 games to feature at the show — with at least ten being brand-new announcements.

Another possibility is Disney’s “Bring Home The Bounty” merchandising campaign, which is seemingly teasing a Star Wars video game reveal on December 14, only a handful of days after the TGA show.

Naturally, all the above should be considered as a rumor at this point, as Quantic Dream itself hasn’t officially commented on the subject. With a bit of luck, we might know more about the mysterious game in just a month.
