Newly released Stranger Things set photos show Dustin and Max at Hawkins High and confirms that filming has resumed on season 4. Stranger Things premiered on Netflix in July 2016 and met great acclaim from viewers and critics alike. Its second season was released in October 2017, with its highly anticipated third season dropping in summer 2019. Stranger Things features a masterful blend of horror, adventure, childhood innocence, and 80s nostalgia, and follows the stories of Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Mike (Finn Wolfhard), and their friends as they discover Eleven’s powers and connections to the mysterious Upside Down.
Although there’s been very little information on what Stranger Things’ season 4 will feature, the show celebrated the restart of production last week with a new official promotional photo. Earlier this year, filming for Stranger Things was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, but Netflix kept fans intrigued with the release of a teaser trailer in February. The trailer confirmed that Chief Hopper is alive, showing him in a prison camp in Russia, but it revealed nothing about the kids of Hawkins, who are arguably the most lovable part of the entire series.
Recently, Atlanta Filming released images that do offer a look at characters Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Max (Sadie Sink), and Nancy (Natalia Dyer). Dustin, Max, and the rest of the kids had been stuck in Middle School for the last three seasons of Stranger Things, but based on the new set photos, it seems they will finally be heading off to high school in season 4. Take a look at the images below:
Pretty sets this week. But, it is at least a good shot of a fence. Two new cast members this week. Let’s say one is Scruffy Mczskinny, and the other Dangerous MacMasterson.

Aside from obvious changes to their appearance and costumes, the filming locations for Stranger Things season 4 also suggest that Dustin, Max, Mike, and Lucas will be starting their high school career. This may cause significant changes in their friend group, especially since Will and Eleven moved away from Hawkins at the end of season 3. Though Will and El will return in Stranger Things season 4, a whole new set of problems could arise both in terms of dealing with the Upside Down and feeling disconnected from their old friends.
It is unclear exactly what the new beginnings have in store for the characters of Stranger Things, but fans can expect to see the beloved characters unraveling even more mysteries and returning to the Upside Down in the new season. The Duffer Brothers have not announced when Stranger Things season 4 will air, but seeing as that production is well underway, it’s possible that the show will resume in late 2021 or 2022. Hopefully, the kids will reunite with their old friends, go on more adventures, and even rescue Hopper from Russia when Stranger Things season 4 is released.
