Activision went off the grid with this Call of Duty teaser, but still no new game announcement.

Last week, gaming content creators, like the team at the Call of Duty blog CharlieIntel and gaming outlet IGN, received a package from Activision with a specific date and time instructions for opening. The instructions stated that a code would be sent via text message on August 10th at 12pm that would open the lock and reveal the contents of this mysterious gift. The contents of the package have now been revealed as something no one was expecting: an old school slide projector. The projector came along with a lightly redacted note and ten slides. At first glance the slides appear to contain nothing of consequence, just more stuff to get people excited about a new Call of Duty game, but if the presumption that each package contained different slides and projectors there could be a co-op element to this strange gift.

The slides contain a map or two and a few pieces of what could be a codex, so there is definitely some puzzle-solving potential to these enigmatic parcels. Most people assumed—and desperately wanted—an announcement for the next game in the franchise was waiting inside the box, but apparently Activision is practicing delayed gratification. It only took the gaming community a couple of hours to crack the code, @NoahJ456, a gaming streamer, is the first to have solved the puzzle and found a website that seems to be just an image of what looks to be an office setting; complete with a vintage TV, old school phone, two chess pawns, and a VCR that no one has set the time on that just keeps flashing 12:00. But if the gaming community knows anything, there’s always more than what appears. @NoahJ456 announced on Twitter that these were just steps one and two of Activision’s plan, and everyone must await further instructions on Friday at 12 EST.

This is an incredibly interesting and anticipation riddled show that Activision is putting on. People are eager to see what comes next this Friday and are full of questions. Will the website simply launch the announcement and a trailer or will this be an even longer scavenger hunt? Even people who don’t play Call of Duty can get into this treasure hunt and get excited over what’s to come next.
