Kill Bill 3 is still in Quentin Tarantino’s plans for the near future, but a third entry on his martial arts movie series would ruin the ending of Kill Bill: Volume 2. Tarantino has explored different genres throughout his career without losing his peculiar style of narrative and his signature levels of violence, but perhaps the movies that stand out the most are Kill Bill: Volume 1 and Volume 2, as they mix different subgenres and styles such as spaghetti Western, blaxploitation films, and samurai cinema.

Tarantino’s Kill Bill: Volume 1 introduced viewers to Beatrix Kiddo aka The Bride (Uma Thurman), a retired assassin for the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad looking for revenge on the team and their leader, Bill (David Carradine), after they tried to murder her and her unborn child on her wedding day. The Bride’s story was long and complicated, and Kill Bill had to be divided in two movies, with Kill Bill: Volume 2 continuing the Bride’s revenge plot. After taking down each of the squad’s members (except, maybe, Elle Driver, whose fate was left unknown), the Bride finally got to Bill and learned that her daughter, B.B, was alive and under his care.

The Bride got the revenge she had been literally fighting for and got her daughter back, bringing her story to a full circle. Still, many fans have been wondering what happened next, not only to the Bride and B.B but also Elle, Sofie Fatale, and Vernita Green’s daughter, Nikki. A third Kill Bill movie has been rumored for years, with Tarantino expressing interest on it many times and recently saying he’s still interested in Kill Bill 3 – but the truth is that Kill Bill 3 would hurt the previous movies.

Kill Bill 3 Would Ruin The Movie’s Ending

Viewers spent two movies following the Bride on her revenge journey and they saw her finally killing Bill in the second movie (even if some believe that she didn’t actually kill him) and reuniting with her daughter. It’s a great ending for the Bride, who as seen at the end of Kill Bill: Volume 2 had a difficult time processing that her daughter was alive, she killed the squad, she killed Bill, and was now free to live her life with B.B, which is understandable. Kill Bill: Volume 2 was the end of the Bride’s arc, and even if Kill Bill 3 focuses on other characters (presumably Nikki Green and B.B), it would still link back to her, and that would affect her already good ending.

The story for Kill Bill 3 has been said to focus on the revenge of Nikki Green, who witnessed her mother’s murder at the hands of the Bride at her home. The Bride even told Nikki that if she still felt “raw about it” when she grew up, she would be waiting. Tarantino has said that Nikki was raised by Sofie Fatale, meaning that she has been definitely trained to kill. On the other hand, B.B. has most likely gone through the same training, and could be the main obstacle in Nikki’s revenge. Even if the Bride isn’t the protagonist anymore, Kill Bill 3 would show that she can’t catch a break even after all these years and that revenge will never die. Then again, Tarantino is a man full of surprises, and his approach to Kill Bill 3, if it does happen, might be completely different and one that honors the ending of Kill Bill: Volume 2.
