The Terminator T-800 will be arriving shortly to Mortal Kombat 11, and the story mode ending has already been revealed by several players who had the opportunity to test the character prior to its official release.

Although the T-800 has a voice actor that does a great Arnold Schwarzenegger impersonation, it is Cassie Cage who performs the narration for the entire ending. She describes how the Terminator ended up in this timeline due to an accident, and that the only logical path was towards Kronika and the Hourglass to control time itself. Defeating her would grant the Terminator the means to get to the right time, but there was a better plan in place following her defeat.

Using the power of the Hourglass, the Terminator tried to solve the issue of man versus machine many times, rebooting history and trying new ways to avoid their conflict, but always the two came to apocalyptic blows and mutual destruction. As Cassie says, “The only way to win, was not to play.”

The Terminator built a new future based on the cooperation between man and machine towards a harmonious existence. This was the only way to ensure the survival of humanity, and the Terminator knew that this timeline had to be protected above all others.

To ensure no one ever found the knowledge of what transpired or of the power of the Hourglass within the machine mind of the Terminator, we see a similar ending to Terminator 2: Judgement Day. To remain hidden, the Terminator “threw himself into the infinite depths of the Sea of Blood,” and we see it waving goodbye, presumably to Cassie since she appears to have witnessed the events, otherwise her narration would make little sense.

For those who may not be familiar with the Terminator films, this ending parallels Terminator 2: Judgement Day. In that film, the protagonists need to destroy any potential link to Skynet and the technology that would eventually seek to wipe out humanity. The Terminator informs John and Sarah Connor that accomplishing this task also requires destroying the chip within its mind, and it is lowered down to where the components would melt and be unusable for those who might come looking.

Now, players have only a few more days to wait until the Terminator is playable in-game. Early gameplay footage has shown that the character will be a strong close-quarters fighter with grappling skills and the ability to counter zoning fighters. Skins for the character are highly detailed and allow players to use a T-800 modeled after a younger or an older Schwarzenegger, depending on their preference.
