The new season of The Amazing Race is set to premiere within the coming week. Fans can finally look forward to seeing new competitors race around in pursuit of the one million-dollar grand prize. With the 31st season of the show premiering in the spring of 2019, fans had to wait a year-and-a-half for the 32nd season of TAR to premiere. But why did fans of the show have to wait so long for the new season to begin airing?
The Amazing Race season 32 filmed from November to December 2018, yet fans had to wait until October 2020 for the season to finally begin airing. With the show having been on the back burner for more than a year, fans were wondering why it was taking so long to air. But recently, fans finally received the news as to why the show was postponed for so long.
Back during the first few months of the pandemic, TAR 32 was originally slated to premiere on May 20 with a two-hour premiere, taking over the time slot that Survivor: Winners At War previously held. But due to the pandemic, many shows had to be postponed. TAR 32 was then postponed in the event that something needed to be aired in the fall to fill a time slot that was previously held. It ended up being the case that another show needed to air first, so TAR 32 was pushed back to a later date.

Due to Survivor not being able to film its 41st season, TAR 32 will be taking over their Wednesday night time slot starting on Wednesday, October 28. The show will air in the 9pm EST time slot for the first two weeks due to Big Brother 22: All-Stars. With 22 months between filming and the airing of the show, TAR 32 has the longest gap between its filming and airing. TAR 33 was in the midst of its production when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, causing production to stop filming for that season, but thankfully TAR 32 was filmed before the pandemic hit, so fans will get to see all of the episodes.
When The Amazing Race premieres, viewers can see former NFL players, former Olympic hurdlers, and pro volleyball players, among many others, racing around the world to compete for the grand prize. One thing for certain is that many fans are very excited to see the new season begin after having to wait so long.
