The D’Amelio Show Charli & Dixie Face Backlash For TikTok Group Trip To Bahamas

On Instagram, photos from Charli and Dixie D’Amelio’s recent trip to the Bahamas were leaked. Other TikTokers attended the trip with the soon to be stars of Disney’s new series, The D’Amelio Show. When followers of these influencers found out about their tropical trip, there was a ton of backlash.

One of the first things to be restricted during the coronavirus pandemic was travel. Obviously, people leaving their country, state or even town is arguably the fastest way for the illness to spread. Despite this fact, many influencers and celebrities have continued to travel. At times, they even flaunt it on social media. In their minds, traveling and sharing their lifestyle is their job so the rules don’t apply to them, but their followers beg to differ. The Keeping Up with the Kardashians clan have been criticized numerous times this year for failing to follow travel restrictions. Earlier this month, Chrishell Stause of Selling Sunset and Dancing with the Stars was criticized for sharing a family photo over the holidays. Now, Charli and Dixie D’Amelio are under fire for a recent trip to the Bahamas.

As reported by Cosmopolitan, Charli and Dixie went on a vacation to the Bahamas with fellow TikTok stars, Noah Beck, Chase Hudson, Avani Gregg and Bryant. Madi Monroe also attended the getaway, but she wasn’t shy about sharing a photo on a private plane with the caption, “I’m on the way.” The D’Amelio sisters didn’t post content from the trip. However, group photos from their trip were leaked by the eagle eye Instagram account, TikTok Room. The social media account refers to themselves as the “First Ever TikTok Shaderoom,” and this was certainly shady. The photos show the influencers arm in arm with masks on and gathered at a table together. When fans found out about the tropical vacation, the criticism started pouring in.

“Idk what’s wrong with their big a** mansion that they can’t stay quarantined,” one user commented. “The cases rising in the Caribbean and Mexico is because of people like them,” another person wrote. “Aww is it that HARD TO STAY IN F*CKING QUARANTINE,” a more peeved user stated. Finally, someone commented, “Stay home like everybody else and don’t think you can go out just because you’re an influencer.” There was a ton of flak on Twitter too. One person tweeted, “The fact that Charli D’Amelio and other TikTokers are in the bahamas rn honestly BAFFLES me bc even if you ignore the deadly pandemic (which they are experts at) they literally went to the Bahamas in early March this year, there was no reason to go again.” Another tweet read, “Like c’mon people are dying everyday. I’m a bit disappointed ngl. They’re supposed to be good role models.”

The fact that Charli and Dixie broke the travel rules is shocking, even in relation to other celebrities. They’re perceived to be more wholesome and are part of a younger generation that is generally more mindful of social issues. When we hear about the uber rich and famous breaking the rules, it’s not as surprising. We hoped for more from the D’Amelio sisters and their fellow TikTokers. Hopefully this incident doesn’t tarnish their upcoming season of The D’Amelio Show.
