The Flash season 7 is saying goodbye to Cisco Ramon, but he could remain in the Arrowverse by moving from Team Flash’s headquarters in Central City to working with A.R.G.U.S., a research and special operations agency that operates throughout the shared universe. The Flash has been going through some big changes this season, with Tom Cavanagh and Carlos Valdes confirmed to be exiting the series after being series regulars since season 1. Cavanagh’s departure has already come and gone, with Valdes expected to follow suit shortly thereafter.

Season 7 has been unique for The Flash. Thanks to the COVID-19 shutdowns last year, season 6 was cut short by a few episodes, with the Mirrorverse storyline being delayed and finally concluding at the beginning of season 7. After its conclusion, Team Flash shifted gears to focus on three new forces created the night Barry and Iris rebooted the speed force, with The Flash surreptitiously using the storyline to also introduce the reason for Cisco’s more permanent retreat from Team Flash.

A.R.G.U.S. has been a staple in the Arrowverse since the division’s introduction in Arrow. While Cisco hasn’t officially told his friends of his plans to quit and move, there’s a chance his next job might be with the agency and The Flash has already dropped a major clue about it, too.

What Cisco’s Fear Reveals About Him

Cisco first saw one of his greatest fears thanks to Psyche. In The Flash season 7’s episode five, called “Fear Me,” Cisco’s first run-in with Psych leaves him shaken. However, while the audience sees both Barry and Frost’s fears, Cisco’s fear is hidden. All he says is, “It can’t end like this.” Fast forward to several episodes later and Cisco finally reveals his Psych-driven fear to Kamilla. He saw himself 40 years in the future, still working at S.T.A.R. Labs while everyone else has moved on to other things.

Cisco’s fear was surprising, but also very relatable. After all, he’s been at S.T.A.R. Labs since before Barry became The Flash, originally working with Harrison Wells and his team on the particle accelerator. It makes a lot of sense that one of his biggest fears isn’t death, but of being stuck at a standstill professionally for the rest of his life. Cisco is an exceptional tech whiz. He’s got so many great ideas and has been able to build so many gadgets that have aided Team Flash for years now.

However, Cisco has so much more to give of himself and seeing the fear vision probably made him realize that he could and should be doing so much more with his life. His fear suggests he wants to be challenged with something different and he needs to leave Central City behind if he’s going to achieve that. What’s more, Cisco has been slowly untethering himself from the superhero world over the last couple of seasons. First by deciding he no longer wanted to be Vibe and now with the decision to leave Team Flash for good. It says that, as much as he loves being a part of the team, he would rather branch out so he isn’t left behind.

Cisco Wants To Leave Team Flash With Kamilla

With Kamilla’s photos getting attention from galleries around the U.S. — namely, in San Francisco and Miami — she and Cisco have decided they want to leave Central City together and start fresh somewhere else. That also means leaving Team Flash and Team Citizen behind for good. Unlike Cisco, Kamilla already has a head start because she’s been sending her photos to various galleries around the country.

Cisco knows he wants to leave for sure, but has found it harder to get started. Change is hard and, just because the general decision to move was made, it doesn’t mean that he knows what it is he’s going to do with his future just yet. All Cisco does know is that he wants to start a new life with Kamilla, wherever that may be and no matter how scary these changes are. This is a stark change to the future The Flash saw in season 3, where Cisco stuck around voluntarily because he wanted the team back to the way they were. This development is a great change for a character who hasn’t gotten as much to do over the last few seasons. With an established and strong relationship with Kamilla, Cisco is ready to take the next steps in his life.

Theory: Cisco Will Get A New Job Working With A.R.G.U.S.

In The Flash season 7’s episode ten, “Family Matters, Part 1,” Kamilla tells Cisco not to worry and stress so much about trying to find the right job. Rather, the right job will come to him. That became clear when, at the end of the episode, Cisco gets an alert from A.R.G.U.S.. Granted, a mention of the agency typically hints towards John Diggle’s arrival in Central City at some point — David Ramsey is confirmed to pay a visit to The Flash later this season. However, it’s more than likely the alert signifies the right job for Cisco is actually joining A.R.G.U.S. It’s a new job falling into his lap right when he’s ready for a change and it can’t be a coincidence that it’s a post from A.R.G.U.S. that he sees shortly after his and Kamilla’s conversation about being stressed over finding the right job.

Working for A.R.G.U.S. is a logical next step for Cisco. He’s worked alongside A.R.G.U.S. before because of The Flash’s alliance with Diggle and his wife Lyla, the head of A.R.G.U.S. Cisco has been especially helpful in stopping metahumans like King Shark, while also developing tech for A.R.G.U.S. to implement and use long-term. Joining A.R.G.U.S. would certainly provide a new challenge for Cisco, utilizing his expertise on a bigger scale than he has been doing at S.T.A.R. Labs. While he’s worked with A.R.G.U.S. in the past, he’s never officially been an employee and that experience could be exactly what he needs. He could also be their metahuman liaison considering he used to be one himself and knows how to handle such situations thanks to his years of experience on Team Flash.

Working with A.R.G.U.S. ultimately gives Cisco an opportunity to do something new, yet familiar, which will allow him to grow and flourish outside of S.T.A.R. Labs. The possibility of Cisco working with A.R.G.U.S. would also allow him to return for a standalone episode in The Flash season 8. Considering how established A.R.G.U.S. already is in the Arrowverse, Cisco moving on to work there makes sense. It maintains the ties he’s built with Barry and Team Flash while allowing him to move on offscreen with the promise of a potential return and team-up should Diggle once again roll into town. How exactly The Flash will officially handle Cisco’s transition as a member of Team Flash remains to be seen, but leaving to work with A.R.G.U.S. would be a good send-off.
