But, now it is the turn for the television series to do the same, and with more time to play with, many of these iconic scenes can be afforded even more detail. Because the Amazon series is set to be a prequel, the show will likely not cover events in all three movies. However, there’s a good chance that there can be tied to start the Fellowship Of The Ring story.
10 Bilbo Baggins’ Birthday Party
One iconic scene from the first Lord Of The Rings movie that could easily be included in the show is Bilbo Baggins’ birthday party. This is the moment where Bilbo vanishes, showing the power of the ring, despite the fact that people don’t know he has it.
There’s no reason why this moment couldn’t be placed into the show and really be given a lot of detail and focus at the same time. People want to see more from this party than what the movie provided, and an entire episode covering it could allow for that sort of detail
9 Orc Army Being Built
One of the most iconic Lord Of The Rings scenes takes place when the audiences are first shown the orc army actually being created, with the creatures beginning to rise and scream as they prepare for war. There’s likely going to be orc involvement in this series, even if it doesn’t touch on any of the trilogy storylines at all.
Because of that, there’s no reason that the Amazon show can’t touch upon this iconic scene and showcase the orc army being constructed and put together. Even if it’s just the early stages of that process, it’s something that can connect the two.
8 Aragorn & Arwen Meet
Aragorn and Arwen provide the big romance for the trilogy, and while these two characters likely won’t be shown in as much detail due to this being a prequel series, there’s no reason that they can’t be involved. The movies show flashbacks of the two characters when they first meet, and it provides some of the most romantic and soft moments from the trilogy.
Bringing those scenes into play with added details to provide even more backstory to the characters would be a lot of fun to see play out. Audiences really enjoyed the story between these two, so bringing it back again would be a welcomed decision.
7 The Balrog
Something that the Amazon series could do brilliantly is tying up a few loose ends between The Hobbit trilogy and The Lord Of The Rings. A big part of that is The Balrog and the battle that takes place inside the Mines of Moria with the dwarves, some of which are part of the company in The Hobbit trilogy.
While there obviously won’t be the iconic scene with Gandalf taking place again, simply having the character return to be an intimidating presence and a true villain would be a great way to bring the iconic scene into the series. Plus, it would highlight exactly what happened to the characters who entered the mine and never left, only to be found by Gimli when they were long since passed.
6 The Forging Of The Great Rings
This is a scene that takes place early on in The Lord Of The Rings to set up exactly what the ring is, how it was created, and why people should be invested in it. This is an important scene and is something that certainly should be involved in the television series.
The show will benefit from more time, though, and putting a lot of detail into exactly why it was created and what Sauron had to do in order to make that happen would be a good step for the show.
5 Gollum’s Journey To Madness
Throughout The Lord Of The Rings, there are plenty of flashback scenes which highlight exactly what happens to Gollum and his obsession with the ring. He is showcased heavily throughout the movies, and it would seem like a shock to not have him involved in the television show in some capacity.
Using the scenes of his journey into madness and his obsession with the ring would be a good way t bring him into the show, hopefully giving more detail about this important character than has ever been done before.
4 The Eagles
The Eagles played big roles in both The Hobbit movies and The Lord Of The Rings trilogy, with the story often using these creatures as a ‘get out of jail free’ card during sticky situations. Seeing them soar in to rescue the heroes is always a fun moment, and there’s no reason why it cannot be showcased again.
Whoever the lead characters are going to be within the television show are no doubt going to find themselves facing some form of peril at one point, with seemingly no way out. So, why not bring in the Eagles one more time?
3 Shelob’s Lair
The television series is not going to be focused on Frodo’s journey, so we won’t be seeing the young Hobbit battling his way through the spiderwebs as he tries to avoid the incredibly scary spider. However, that doesn’t mean that Shelob’s Lair can’t be put into the show.
This creature could easily have been around during the time when the show is set and adding a scene in to showcase it would be a fun nod to the movies. Shelob’s Lair is one of the scariest elements of Lord Of The Rings, and it would make for a gripping scene in the television show as well.
2 Isildur Doesn’t Throw The Ring
Whether this series touches on the classic Lord Of The Rings trilogy remains to be seen, but there’s no doubt going to be linked as that is what people will be looking for. The ring itself is likely going to be involved in the series in some manner though, as that is the driving force behind everything.
Therefore, showing the iconic scene where Isildur opts to not throw the ring into the fire, keeping it for himself which sets off a chain reaction of events would be a wise move. This is a scene that directly impacts the trilogy, as none of it would have happened without that mistake and it causes a lot of tension within Middle Earth because of it, which the show could tap into.
1 Gandalf Arrives At The Shire
While the Amazon series is going to be a prequel, a great way to end the series could be having Gandalf, played by Sir Ian McKellen once again, arriving in The Shire. It’s an iconic scene from the original trilogy with Gandalf smoking his pipe and letting off fireworks from his cart.
It’s something that could tie the two together really nicely at the end, giving a good bridge between them which would only increase its viewership with the diehard fans of the movies. Plus, this really would be a great way to end the series.
