Aside from bugs that impact quality or progression, glitches continue to be a relentless gift within video games. The latest in-game mishap comes from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, involving a horse that gave us flashbacks to The Witcher 3.

Posted to Reddit by A_Riften_Guard, the user’s Skyrim character can be seen shooting an enemy with an arrow. While moving in to confirm the kill, a horse randomly drops from the sky onto the terrain, and sadly, doesn’t survive the fall. The player’s confusion was conveyed when the character instinctively looked up slightly to see if it was raining horses, but it looks like it will just be logged in the glitch hall of fame.

In tradition, Redditors provided a healthy dose of laughs in the glitch’s thread, from “So… average day in Skyrim,” to “Looks like the space program just finished a launch nearby.” Not only did the horse fall from the sky, but it appeared to be launched with tremendous force from whichever portal it came out of. While the glitch itself is comical, the death of your in-game companion – for no apparent reason – is no laughing matter. The user confirmed that the horse was in fact theirs, reminding us of another game with glitching horses whilst mourning the Skyrim steed’s unfortunate demise.

Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher series has been known to favor glitching mounts in the past, triggering hilarious appearances. Geralt’s mare – known as Roach – didn’t play a huge part in the first two games from CD Projekt Red, however, it became a relentless meme from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. As Geralt is able to summon Roach from almost anywhere, this has caused the horse to spawn in peculiar places. Some players have seen Roach appear on roofs, market tents, and everything in between. It’s an annoying glitch that players have warmed to over the years, and the developers have even gone as far as explaining the glitch before.

Netflix’s The Witcher season one included a live-action Roach, and fans were wondering if the meme would live on in the show’s second season. Roach doesn’t play a big part in the series, but the steed’s best in-game efforts are always in our hearts.
